  • Leapyear tasting (Red Dot Winebar Kristiansand): Apple cider, white flowers, lemony citrus fruit, hint of some more tropical notes, smoke. Lovely acid, balancing the fruit, which is echoing the nose but gaining more tropical notes with air, in a quite long finish.

  • I was excited to open a bottle of this one, as I continue to explore the wines from the talented Hannemann brothers.
This wine was leaning towards the oxidative side of things, which was a slight surprise to me after the freshness of the Heiliger Blutberg bottle that I had a couple months ago. I really enjoy how Christian and Martin push the envelope with experimentation without ever sacrificing purity. Their lineup has a nice mix of wines that speak with slightly different expressions. I wonder if that is the case because two different voices are making the wines and the wines reflect two different points of view? Either way, I very much enjoy the dichotomy of lenses.
This showed notes of spiced apple cider, piquant bergamot, an essence of mango, and white tea leaf. The palate was textured, salty, and full of high toned acidity that really gave this nice lift to balance the leesy qualities.
Another great wine in the collection from this up and coming producer.
