  • Drank a bottle back on on 4/19/2012 and the wine still needs more time. I have consumed some other wines from this vintage and they are all tight at this point. I tasted some raspberry mixed with hints of tobacco. I have four bottles left and I probably won't open another for 3 years. I will end up wishing I had bought a case.

  • Decanted for 2 hours. Aromas of red fruit, hint of cassis, leather and tobacco. Tight grip early that loosened up on second day and let the flavors show through. Really nice QPR with silky mouthfeel but a short linger. Wish I had bought more.

  • I decanted this wine for 3 hours, and only then did it start to open up. Just shows you the strength of the '05 vintage. The first sip had nothing going on (tasted like bad water), and then after 3 hours I tasted some dark fruit intermixed with cedar and tobacco. I probably won't drink another bottle of this wine for 3 years. This wine is going to be really good and at $14 or so a bottle it is a steal.

  • Color: medium dark red. A little transparent. Nose: Some strawberry, also some green. Taste: Strawberry and some plum, a little green. Medium body. Not a long finish. Good for $13.

  • I ordered this wine at a local restaurant and was impressed enough to make a note on it. Nice plum color, pleasant nose and after a few minutes breathing a very pleasant wine for $27. I've seen it retail at Total Wine for $14.99.

  • Extremely tight when poured directly after opening. After several hours, it starts opening up, but you still only get a bit of cherry on the nose. This is the wine that has pushed me to finally buy my own decanter, as it took a long time to be brought to life in the open bottle. It tastes very well-balanced and smooth, of cranberry backed by smokey earthiness and a hint of leafy greens. The glasses I poured for myself disappeared very quickly. A nicely crafted and very amicable wine.

  • This is a very good wine that offers an everyday alternative to New World reds. A very drinkable crowd pleaser. Not enough Old World flavors to scare off the Napa crowd, but enough to be a welcome alternative. Price is right, too. There's nothing exciting about this wine to push it into the 90+ range. Just a good, everyday drinker. Ripe fruits; good finish. Well structured, and well made.

  • Today's Bordeaux (W Hotel, Chicago IL): nose: fairly reticent nose with dark cherry, black currants, cigar box, and some leather aspects

taste: nice solid weight on the palate with dark cherry, cranberry, cigar box, and tobbacco leaf tones with bits of earth and leather thrown in

overall: very firm with a nice up front attack that ends with a decent finish. Mid palate is lacking a bit but this is a very nice wine

  • Lovely nose of bing cherries and violets. Red fruit - red currant, cherries. What strikes me is that it is really smooth and has a nice balance of everything... the fruit, a little wood, a bit tannic, a bit of heat. The finish had a taste of bacon fat

  • Popped and poured. Nose of cedar chips, leather, and a bit of smoked meat. Very smooth mouthfeel, hardly any tannin to speak of considering how young it is. Taste was initially closed up with only some tight currant and earth flavors. Even after quite a bit of time in the glass, those currant and earth flavors only partially filled out. Not bad, but even with the inexpensive price, I would not get this again.
