Meet the winemaker - MDDG with Samuel Guibert (WSET Bermondsey): Field blend; everything co-fermented using indigenous yeasts for circa one month. Pumping over for four to five days; nothing protective about the winemaking. No oak; all stainless steel. No malo, to retain acidity. They would like to plant some assyrtiko to increase acidity to the blend.
On the ripe stone fruit/tropical spectrum; some real viognier ‘oiliness’. Perfectly nice, but a bit simple in its youth. Not too concentrated either. Oddly enough I got a real sense of thyme, more specifically than just ‘garrigue’.

At Eulalie. Really enjoyable wine. White fruit notes dominant on the nose. Also some enjoyable lemon peel and herbal notes. Acid stronger on this one than on prior vintages (maybe just due to age). Very enjoyable with goat cheese soufflé

A bit under the weather so let’s see. Color is light golden. On the nose: lemon, honeysuckle and minerals. On the palate: Tropical fruits, lemon, almond and minerals. This is good.

A magnificent Mas de Daumas Gassac vertical from the private cellars of Allard Jakobs (Restaurant Sinck, Amsterdam, NL): Magnum. Wonderful floral fragrance from 48% Viognier, silky and glossy palate, very shapely, seamless, soft but fresh acidity, subtle zesty bitters, excellent flavours and length.
