  • This had not moved in an underground cellar since purchase when first offered. I had to decant this at the restaurant, so for a few days I placed it at 45degrees to get all the deposit into the bottom corner of the bottle. Careful handling enabled the decant to be very clean. Due to the arrangement of the lunch, it had been decided to have it early given its age, alongside a different similarly old Cornas. As it happened, it was put on quite late and I was concerned that the time delay might have caused fading. It followed a very good 2001 Ch Cos d'Estournel which could have been a hard act for an oldie to follow. However it showed well. Fairly pale but not brown or orange. Nose opulent Rhône, beautiful, with a touch of funk that blew off. Initially I noticed a very slight trace of bitterness but not for long. Savoury, super mouth feel, long and wide even though not huge. Really gorgeous. Last bottle! Worth waiting for. I hope I last long enough for my Cornas and other northern Rhônes from the current century to go the same way!

  • Lovely nose of barnyard and manure. Vibrant and fresh on the palette. Still has structure but smooth and very approachable. A perfect drinking spot. Pale red with some hint of pink and brown. I really liked this wine. And arguably the one that got me hooked on Northen Rhône.

*tried 75ml from a wine sampling machine at hedonism wines in the UK (sales assistant Susan - excellent).

  • Still young. Loaded with fruits and spices. Tobacco, forest. Full bodied and complex. A lot of good tannin. This wine has a long future.
