  • Still excellent! This wine is so well balanced and was a pleasure to find in the cellar. I think it'll keep well for another few years

  • This wine impressed me with it's weight and density. Massive dark purple fruit nose and on the tongue. Layer upon layer of deep pile fruit, plums, dark cherry and raisin. This will certainly last another 5 years.

  • Decanted for one hour. In a good spot now. Nose not powerful. Palate is smooth and lingering. Finish average. The 42% Cab Franc make this wine special. Developed while in the glass. Very accomplished wine making.

  • Open 3 hours: Smells wonderful, wet cedar, mint, rosemary, blackberries and plum and a hint of pipe tobacco. Medium weight and intensity on the palate, really nice acidity and dusty tannins with a relaxed grip. There is a blend of red and dark fruit flavors on the palate, again some nice herbal notes, and dry cedar board in the finish. A bit gritty in the finish as I drink more of it, but not bad, as the initial feel of this wine is very smooth and that extends into the finish. The finish isn't terribly long but it isn't short either. This is really nice wine overall, pretty complex and delicious. In a nice place, if you have a lot of this, it's worth checking in on. No rush though, I wish I had some more.

  • Wow, last bottle. much better than last year. Deep red. Big expressive nose with cedar, pipe tobacco (that Bowl of Roses scented tobacco my dad used to smoke - wonderful memories). dried fruit and such from raspberry, blackberry in teh nose. Subdued oak character, great palate and finish. could have a bit more earthiness and another couple layers of complexity to better satisfy, but then it only cost me $31 so who should complain. this was an excellent QPR. Not sure of current pricing. Good style for American meritage blend. very good with a steak, mashed potato and cobbled together gravy dinner.
Second Night: finished her off... still good but some extra oak flavor is coming forward. Still goo fruit. tobacco is gone but some weak cedar lingers. Still good but not so nice as last night. Drink or hold.

  • Popped and poured to taste; then decanted a half hour. Deep red. Good, thick red fruit in the nose followed by light cassis and some alcohol. Medium body with a good mid palate of black fruit. Finish is a bit hot but lingers suitably.
later taste: Bigger nose, more vanilla now. Rounder and smoother in the mouth. Still a bit tannic in the finish.
Served with lite appies: bread, hummus, manzanilla olives, veggies.
I'd hold this another year or even longer if you have several.

  • Needed a while to open up but when it did it was wonderful. Black fruits with some spice. I think I would decant it next time or wait a couple years for the other two.

  • Deep Purple, brooding nose, raspberry nuance with fresh soil, tart/tannic, tastes deep as a Cab Blend should, sure to last for years, WTH $22?

  • Essentially a pop and pour (although I left my glass alone for the first 15 minutes). Initial aromas of red currants, plums, tobacco, and some sweet oak. Medium-bodied and ripe polished berry fruit in the mouth with a real nice smokiness that gives way to a vibrant acidity. Noticable depth and well rounded tannins lead to a smooth, long finish. I know this isn't one of my more exciting notes but the wine was just a great example of an elegant, well made Washington bordeaux blend (49% cab, 42% cab franc, 9% merlot). Nothing to make it "pop" but also no flaws...just darn good. 92 pts.

  • Popped and poured. Quite a bit more approachable right off the bat compared to prior vints. Ripe, rich aromatics of black cherry, cedar, and chocolate with fair amounts of oak and toasted coconut. The palate follows through the same. Nice black fruit core, currants mostly. Richly extracted with velvety tannins and a full bodied mouthfeel. Moderate to low acidity. While it won't last forever, this is a great drinker for the near terms while some of the '01's and '02's are integrating in the bottle.

  • The Jug's Washington Tasting (The Cook's Basement): Much more fruit forward then I remember the '04. Very nice wine, that held its own with the other wines of this flight. 90-91

  • Decanted for 1 hour. 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Cabernet Franc, 9% Merlot. This wine exhibited a dark garnet color. On the nose, aromas of black cherries and plums were joined by distinctive notes of tobacco and herbs with hints of earthiness. On the palate, flavors of black cherries, raspberries and blackberries were joined by notes of mocha, tobacco and leather leading to a firm finish. Good amount of acidity that begs for a nice cut of beef. Very nice as always... HS90
