  • Lemon at the front, leading into some light oak and medium body. Clean finish with refreshing hit of acid. Definitely an outstanding wine right now.

  • Prior bottle was 5 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well with consistent notes. Pear and lemon with just a touch of creaminess on the nose. Medium bodied with white apple and brighter pear upfront. Fruit remains very clean and bright with very good definition through the mid-body and just a touch of additional depth and roundness. Light citrus and tart notes come in on the backside and the wine shows good overall balance between fruit and structure. Drinking well now and has the elements to remain in a high spot for several more years. Next bottle for me, June/July 2024.

  • Tasted at the winery. Previously tasted from bottle 5 months ago and the wine remains in a very good spot. Apple, pear and lemon on the nose which seemed a bit more expressive than my prior bottle. Medium bodied with white orchard fruit notes (especially apple and pear) which has opened up just a touch as compared to my prior bottle. The defining characteristic of this wine is the very clean and very well-defined fashion that it expresses its fruit, especially through the middle. Citrus and other tart qualities provide the structure on the back. Balanced and in a very good spot for current drinking. Next bottle (after this weekend) will be June/July 2024.

  • Chablis, through and through. Can’t wait to side by side this against Fevre, Dauvissat, and Raveneau. Reminds me of a young Dauvissat La Forest we had last year at Frank’s Wine Bar. As if poured down a rock, picking up ancient shards of minerality along the way. Medium acidity, chewy finish in the mid-palate, definitely in the cheeks. Maddy getting canned peaches, I’m getting lemon pith and vanillin, and eventually lime pearls. This is a strong effort for Forge’s first ever (?) Chardonnay. I should’ve bought more!

  • Previously tasted 7 months ago at the winery, this was my first from bottle. Lemon, light oak and bright, white orchard fruits on the nose. Medium bodied with apple and other white orchard fruits being the dominant fruit notes, but in a very clean and bright fashion, without being overly tart. The mid-body shows good complexity and the tart notes and creaminess behind tie it into the back end nicely. Overall, showed slightly better balance than in my winery tasting as the fruit and oak/tart/structure are slightly better integrated. I will probably open another bottle in July 2023 just to confirm.

  • Amber gold appearance, aromas of toffee, creme brulee, baked yellow apple, hazelnut, maybe a hint of lemon zest. Youthful acid on the palate, more citrus forward, tangerine, caramel apple, brioche. Such a nice balance. Interested to see if in a few years the palate shifts more toward those nutty, baked aromas. Great first Chardonnay offering from Forge (not that it's surprising whatsoever).

  • Tasted at the winery. Bright, white orchard fruit notes on the nose, along with a light touch of oak/creaminess. Medium bodied (12.3% ABV) with very bright and clean white orchard fruit notes upfront, particularly apple. Some brighter white apple, mixed with rounded more open apple, along with other mixed white orchard notes through the middle. Slightly more tart pear notes come in towards the back. Integration between mid-body and finish is quite harmonious, with just a bit of creaminess. Balance between fruit and structure is nicely done, such that the wine has good mid-body depth, length on the finish and is already showing the fruit well. I'm excited to see how this wine evolves as it feels like it has a bit more depth and complexity than some of the other FLX chardonnays I have tried. I'll plan to open my first from bottle in June/July 2023.
