A delicate and dusty dance of chalk. Wet pebbles after a summer rain. Eventually, just barely, stone fruit poking out. I get apricot. Maddy says maybe. Then must and smoke, a touch of an astringent aftertaste in the throat. Sadly, felt closed, so we’ll revisit. @ Torrisi

Began with pith, clearly lime, potentially grapefruit. Softens a touch soon thereafter, into tropical fruit and shredded coconut. One of the more Sauvignon Blanc-esque chardonnays I’ve ever had the pleasure to taste.

90 min decant before first sips. Granny Smith green apples — bruised (Maddy gets baked apple pie) — permeate the initial nose. On a deeper whiff, the layering begins its reveal. Intertwined wet rocks, butterscotch, salinity, and lemon custard play together, nicely. On the palate, textural feel highlighted by a mouth coating presence. Selosse does what few others in Champagne can pull off (NYE)
