Dark garnet in the glass. A nose of strawberry, cherry, clay, with a hint of pepper. Velvety soft mouthfeel, nice acidity, and good structure. On the palate you get liquered berries, and cedar. This leads into an oaky finish, that also featured cedar and cherry that showed good length. A must buy for me, and another QPR winner from Spain.

Good easy drinking Rioja. Previous vintages, particularly 2004, have been better. I used to drink this a lot; not so much now, but it's inoffensive and pretty tasty so I'm always happy to drink it as long as someone else is buying.

Nose of strawberries and oak - light. As it opens up mocha notes predominate - more interesting. To taste at first strawberryish and a bit dilute with a bit of stalkyness on the finish - not nice. Again with air mocha flavours become more pronounced, it fills out and the stalky finish disappears. Drinkable certainly but not great.

medium ruby colored. simple cherry, toasty nose. on the palate, this has a lot of acidity and bitter tannins. it's weak, thin, vegetal and the toast overwhelms what little spicy cherry fruit there is. medicinal, green finish. no good, even for the price.

Because reading "wine trials", I went to re-meet a very old chap: smooky, leather, loads of fruit and vainilla, little acidic at the finish. If you like Rioja (as I do) not surprises here, im any case a nice value. By the way, I deeply disagree with opinions saying Rioja is better with food on the table; many Crianzas do but many Reservas and "Single wines" do not. Maybe the real question is to ask about how do you really enjoy wine? Solo or pairing with food (as usually spaniards do).

Decanted 1hr before tasting. Food pairing: decent chunk of a 20oz ribeye, chargrilled medium in some areas and rare in others. This wine has a bright cherry bouquet and excellent oaky scents of vanilla, chocolate, and sweet tobacco. Earthy and light on the tip of the tongue, slightly vinegary on the midpalate with weak fruit. Finish is muted and disappointing. Probably what one would expect for the price, but not worthy of import. Does not capture the typical qualities of the Rioja style Tempranillo whatsoever.

Crystal clear dark ruby in color with a translucent rim and high intensity. I have to admit, it's pretty to look at with a candy cherry nose and a slightly chocolaty, medicinal underbelly. In the mouth, the wine shows a bracing acidity, with medium tannins and a spicy mid palate bite. Medium to light bodied with a tangy cherry finish, I see this as a decent table wine. Simple and one dimensional, it could easily hold up to a Friday night thriller movie and pizza. 2.5/5

Light reddish brown color with hints of orange. The nose is a big vanilla cherry pie with spices! Seriously, very fruit driven with candy like appearance. In the mouth this wine is soft and elegant with medium acidity and firm medium weight tannins. Short finish is disappointing, though the light nature of the wine makes for easy sipping. 2.5/5

Wow. This was bad. Sharp edges, green, austere, short acetone finish, dark translucent burgundy color. Worse with food. Doesn't make any sense to me as I really like tempranillos.

Delicate aroma of figs and alchohol, with a dark red appearance and light mouthfeel. Slightly dry flavor with almost no aftertaste.

Blackberry. Cherry.
Not enough fruit, smells too much like spirits, not for food. Good tannins, balanced, missing body and fullness.
