  • This is a well crafted cab with a nice balance of fruit, tannin structure, and subtle acidity and nice smooth finish. Full bodied, deep ruby color, and a bit bold; I thought it needed few years in the cellar as it came across youthful. The balance and complexity were much better after a 1-2 hr decant. A beautiful wine and has potential to be great in a few years.

  • A bit of a let down, especially considering my first leonetti of any kind but I'll blame this on a vintage that my be light on stuffing across the board. In this case there does not seem to be enough depth to carry the significant oak. Time will tell. Well made so 89+ just in case the fruit is able to rally down the road. My note said coconut... (drank over several hours in monster Riedel glass.

  • I'll revisit the rating in a year or so. While a very nice - refined - wine, it did not excite us. I'm still new at working with Leonetti wines, but I'm fairly certain it just isn't ready to drink yet. I opened it the day before we drank it, flipped the cork over and put it back, then left it outside at about 50 degrees F for 24 hours. I think that's just not enough to let it open up. We had it with beef short ribs... it was a good pairing for that.
