Nose is very different from Champagne (sorry, I haven’t had American sparkling wine before). There is a lot of sweet pastry (cinnamon, sugar icing as well), yellow apple, and pear. Surprisingly there are also honey and a little bit of umami/soy sauce, though the later wears off. Nice and full mousse in the mouth with hard candy. There are lemon, elderflower, and some orange on the palate. It feels medium+ bodied and a little viscous. Quite long finish. 8/18

Chardonnay captured, with purity and intensity, sparkled with bubbles. Nuanced notes over the concentrated mid palate core. The depth of flavor and purity are outstanding and offer a tasting experience that makes up for a lesser range of complexity however many Champagnes would not compare well. I'm searching my memory for a female comparative - likely a tennis pro with a fast serve who keeps the ball in play.

Pale yellow and with a brisk small bead, Schramsberg's 2020 Blanc de Blancs offers bright aromas and flavors of lemon zest, Mandarin oranges, green apples, jasmine, cardamom and bread dough. Light-to-medium-bodied, energetic and with a creamy mousse, it stays dense on the mid-palate and concludes with a lengthy, mineral-laden finish. This deftly crafted sparkling Chardonnay would be well-matched with caviar! Drink now-2028.

Needs more time on the lees for my taste. Green apple and acidity but very one note to me and uninteresting. Not worth to tariff in my book and I would much rather spend more to get the experience I am looking for or less for bottles that are on par. Bummer.

Pizza dough and lemontini. Bready and cloying. Appeals to those looking for something yellow with bubbles. I know a decent amount about the 2020 vintage in general ‘round these parts, but I don’t pretend to know how it may have affected those few domestic sparklers here, and/or if this is just manipulated to the point that it isn’t necessarily worth picking apart beyond that. Even as a palate cleanser or aperitif, there is a perception of too much dosage to its blousy delivery so that it’s hard to imagine this as anything beyond a hotel room minibar split.
Juicy, nervy, and structured, showing lovely, yeasty, brioche aromatics atop mineral-laden notes of stone fruit, green apples, and sweet pears. Possesses so much tension and balance, tremendous focus, with an everlasting bead and spicy ginger on the crisp, effervescent finish.

Seems likely the grapes were a little riper at harvest. Not especially acidic. Enjoyable.
