  • Pretty ruby color. The aromas have this complex tapestry with these darker cherries, saucy plums and deep earth, with airier elements of roses and violets, rhubarb, pomegranate tea, and all sorts of spices and nuances. The palate is deep with structured but round-edged tannins and fresh acidity. The fruit tends towards this mix of black cherries and spiced cranberry sauce, and the fruit is matched with lots of spices, dried flowers, gravelly-loamy soil, with cola and light roast coffee elements. So good – this one is an especially long-ager for this lineup.

  • he nose is a bit generic at this point, suggesting it needs real time to fully develop. It’s red and black fruit with dark earth and a bit of baking spice at the moment. On the palate it’s medium bodied with high viscosity and restrained tannin. The black fruited flavor lineup includes black plum, black cherry, blueberry, allspice, violet, date, and a lot of black pepper. It gets sweeter and denser with more time. It strikes me as the most complex of the 2021 spring release pinots, and is my personal favorite. I suggest aging it for at least five years as it showed significant evolution over a 36 hour period.
