  • Fantastic. Decanted the sediment, let it sit for about 30 mins. Drank with med rare beef. Did not seem like it would last much longer but for the first 5 years of storage it was in a pretty warm cellar.

  • Drank this wine with a group of drinking enthusiasts at a wine mate's place. The theme of the evening: Aussie Shiraz from 2006.

Still tight and decanted for 30 mins for the wine to open up. Dark red fruits with chocolate, and a fine, silky texture. The structure is still holding up very nicely with dark spices, oak, and a long, satisfying finish.

  • Some bottle variation since there is very little, if any brown tinge on the rim.

Decanted two hours, served at 62-64F, sediment easily controlled after a couple of days upright

Blackcurrant and blueberry aromas, maybe wishful thinking about a hint of eucalyptus. Acidity holding, suggesting I can hold the last bottle a few years. Palate is beautifully balanced, long, with tannins tickling into the smooth finish

  • Honestly, mostly just another mature big Shiraz. Not particularly special that makes it stand out in the crowd, at least not any more. Perhaps a bit more acid than usual, and a kind of balsamic / caramel twist in the tail. Otherwise, heaps of blueberry fruit.

Very heavy deposit in bottle, both clumping and fine, needs care in decanting or the bottom few sips of every glass get a bit gritty.

  • Hint of brown on edge. Otherwise dense purple. Double airation into decanter, 1.5 hours

    Soft tannins with moderate acidity

Intense fruit, eventually developing towards a raisin note.

  • Opened, decanted, poured, so probably missing some of the complexities.

Remarkably fresh, dark acidity, with a little hint of spice

  • Excellent. The best Shiraz I have tasted. Sadly, this is my last bottle. Drink up now. I do not think it will get any better. I decanted this wine for 7 hours and we drank it over a 2 hour period of time.
The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, blueberry and raspberry. It tastes like prune, fig and raisin. The body is full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

  • Agree with H. Eugene's tn. Has gained a more dark garnet in appearance since last taste. Blueberries, blackberry paste, with a hint of spiciness on the nose. The palate is picking up more of a port-like taste with raisins, burnt dark fruits, and hints of fig; concentrated and smooth. Medium-full bodied with a long finish. Pretty good as it is right now.

  • Excellent bottle of wine. I decanted this Wine four hours. I poured it through the Venturi twice. Alcohol on the nose. Smooth tannins. Very long finish. Gorgeous color. Deep ruby red with extremely strong, long legs. This Wine continued to get better as the evening went on. I think to bring it to its full potential, it probably needs a 4 to 7 hour decant time. Drinking very well right now.

  • Excellent!! Excellent!! Drinking very well right now. Wow. Smooth but pronounced tannins, dark red fruit, meaty. This is a refined monster, knock your socks off. I can't wait to open the second bottle. Double decanted for 4 hours. The wine really opened up.

  • Vinturied into a decanter for 1 1/2 hour. Dark violet with some dark garnet on the rim. Dark blueberries, ripe plums, and some spices, and toasted oak on the nose. Blueberry pie, blueberry liquer, hints of mocha and black peppers on the palate. Nice long balanced finish and still has the tannins to back it up. This is a very well made shiraz though my wallet would definitely prevent me from purchasing more as much I'd like to.

  • Opened for bottle breath since noon time before brought to the seafood dinner at No Sign Board. It is a Shiraz dominant blend @ 85% with 10% Mourvedre and 5% Grenache.
When the wine was served at the restaurant, the nose was rather warm and pungent along with oxidize and port like character. The entry is full of stew ripe fruits, nutty and oxidized notes but the mid-palate is silky and seamless, with dark cherries and sweet finishing. It slowly open up to show some red fruits, plums, cherries interwoven with earth, forest floor and mocha espresso. Nice lingering aftertaste with fine tannins. The initial palate was not too desirable but good acidity emerge at mid-palate lifted the weight and show freshness and flavours to the wine. This is the part I prefer Exile than Warrenmang, which rather heavy and can't carry its 15.5% abv.
Made by J. Maltus of famed Saint Emilion Chateaux, it does has some admirable old world elegance and complexity.
This isn't cheap on the market and I'm not sure if it worth the price tag. Will try again to form a better opinion.

  • Tasted this at No Signboard Seafood (Geylang) last night with my mates from www.hardwarezone.com during a causal dinner.

Compared it side by side with the 2005 Warrenmang Shiraz Estate.

On the nose it has a inky, iodine, smell which reminded me of fortified wines (port, sherry). On the palate it has lots and lots of plums and black licorice. Good structure and body in the mouth. Some iron and blood in the taste as well. Style of the wine is more old world although this comes from Barossa.

    An interesting experience.

  • Wow. Smooth but pronounced tannins, dark red fruit, meaty. This is a refined monster, knock your socks off. Needs a little time to really pull out the full balance, 5-10 years.

  • Unique shiraz, complex, less silky than your typical barossa, love it!

  • The nose will take you away; sweet dark fruit that makes you know there is a treat inside. Taste doesn't disappoint with dark fruit again dominating. A real stunner for a shiraz. Still has years to go. Keeping my other bottle for another 5.

  • Alcohol :: 15%
Double decanted for 4hrs. Served with Riedel O Bordeaux. When I first tasted this wine, the temperature is kinda high and hence the presence of the alcohol on the nose, but I would say this is a well-made, well balance wine as though the temperature is high, the 15% alcohol is barely noticeable on the palate. After chilled, the aromas is more expressive and focus. Deep note of blueberries, dark plum, spices and a bit of herbs. Medium - Full bodied, this offer plenty of richness, almost voluptuous on the palate. Lots of sediment, but it wasn't really distract much, just added some bitter cocoa note on top of the mocha, dark fruits, savory meatiness flavors along with heavy mocha note from the toasted oak. Tannin is fine and quite integrated that leads to smooth, medium length finish, with some alcohol heat rebound after swallow. This might not be the top Barossa Shiraz, but a very good wine that deliver for its price. Give it another 5yrs for better integration though I'm not sure about evolution. Buy - Maybe.

  • Ripe plum and influence of high quality oak is evident on the nose , palate is brooding with plum, blackberry and spicey dark cherry, finishes with considerable length and soft tannins. Slightest hint of the 15 % alcohol suggesting a few more years required

  • A stunning nose and palate of blue/black fruit, smoked meat, dark chocolate and tobacco. Silky tannins. Insanely good.
