  • From 375. My first try at a 21 auslese. Nose is charming, rocks and petrol (already) through and through. Apricot, candied lemon, brioche, petrol, a bit of pastry cream. Definitely the lighter side of modern Auslese, as sweet as some kabis in recent memor, and with pretty easy-going acid. Simultaneously gossamer but with an oily texture on the tongue, screamingly primary to be sure, but lots of stuffing here. 91+ on night one.

Day 3, it has shed some of the baby fat, laying bare a pure mineral and apricot core. Still shows the classic w-s richness, and one wishes for a bit more acid to really firm this puppy up. Not the most complex yet but plenty delicious. 92
