  • Just average, wouldn't be able to tell it's a top 1er blind.

  • Clear medium ruby colour, paler rim, developing

Nose is clean medium intense aromas of kirch, forest floor, leaf, wild strawberry, some oak, clove spice, quite complex, developing

Palate is dry, mediun tannins, medium %, body and flavour intensity with aromas of kirch, strawberry, forrest floor and leafs, spice, clove and bark, medium+/long finish

Well balanced typical Vosne-Romanee which you can drink now but will benefit from further storaging. Complex, especially the nose, good concentration and intense light red fruit which carries the finish, also secondary aromas that are developing, aromas are concentrated and this is a outstanding quality wine, 92-93p.

This needed some air fully open, i will recommend 2 hours in an decanter or decant it and back in the bottle the day before consumption (what i did). Needs air but not as closed as the 2005 vintage.

  • 2013 editon of En Primeur - Kelly and Kevin’s excellent adventure; 3/26/2014-4/1/2014 (Mostly in Bordeaux and a night in Paris): Blackberries, black cherries, licorice, vosne spices and earth. As expected, excellent concentration, sweet ripe fruit driven palate impression and nicely integrated tannins. This will still require five years of additional cellaring. Very ripe wine with excellent concentration.

  • Seems to have shut down considerably, nose did not reveal much aside from gravel and blackberries. Very structured palate, fine firm tannins, a hint of spice, but not revealing much else (especially fruitwise). Would not open for another 5 years at least.

  • The fruit here initially seemed sparse and ashen but over a few hours enriched itself with more density and sweetness than I might have thought possible from judging the wine at the outset. That said, while it resulted in a fairly sleek and streamlined package, I can't say it revealed a whole lot of personality, and perhaps the relatively young vines in Cathiard's section of the vineyard are the reason for that: this is a site that you fairly expect to reek of Vosne-Romanee terroir, and the best examples I've had from Arnoux and Bouchard do just that. That's not really the case here, however elegant the package.

  • Had to open this bottle due to some leakage. When I cut open the cap some wine was trapped there but the cork was not portruding. Expected the worse but turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Soaring nose from the get-go followed by pure red and black fruit and a good mineral core of dry extract to balance. This bottle was not tannic at all but still had a nice velvety mouthfeel. Lacked a bit of complexity to be truly great but still a very nice drink and a classy Vosne. Now I have to decide whether to try my luck with a bottle in good condition...

  • delicious pure vosne, very cherry and spice, I do notice the oak, good concentration, needs time as the wine clamped up after an hour, major yum however - this is supposed to be younger fruit - try 2017
