  • The label looks different and says "M" rather than M2 yet from descriptors seems like the same wine. Very pricey and in competition with fine Bordeaux at this range. That said, the wine (2003 Matallana M) is excellent with a rich silky core of ripe black fruit, very silky tannins that are an incredible texture, black licorice, tempered spice, very vibrant med+ acidity, though the length could be longer. Vanilla tones and integration of fruit acid and acidity suggests it spends 18 or more months in new french oak.
