This was a big surprise. 90% carignan if I remember. Drank really well on PnP with maybe 10-15min in the glass. Lighter red fruits, medium-light body, solid acidity and complexity. This one got polished off pretty quickly!

Bright and loud and great fun. Red fruit and white pepper all day long. We put it up against Ridge's Evangelho, which isn't a fair comparison (Ridge's has a big dose of Zin), but so what. It was fun to put this Gen Z wine up against Ridge's Boomer version. The Boomers won in this case (more elegant and balanced), but Desire's wines are always a revelation. This one was no different.

magenta-purple in the glass and medium-plus body. red fruit, licorice, fresh herbs and plums on the nose. in mouth it shows a lovely melange of red fruits with touches of herbs, candy, and soil. good acidity and firms tannins that need a bit of bottle age to soften. good length and a fun "food wine".
14% AbV; 90% Carignane/ 10% Mourvèdre field blend.

West Coast Wine Tasting at K&L: 90% carignan, the rest mataro. Brighter and redder nose than the bedrock version. This actually feels closer to the Dirty and Rowdy variant (RIP) than the Bedrock version, although it's very much of its own. Red cherry, raspberry, hot sand, some sea breeze. Very bright acid on the palate, with candied cherry, cranberry, and granite. A super different expression of the site.

3 hour decant. 90% carignan, 10% Mourvèdre. Light red fruits, loads of acid, but just an absolute joy to drink. The carignan shines so bright but the Mourvèdre gives a bit of depth and darker fruit on the finish. Evangelho and Cody do it again.

First miss for me from DL, out of a good number of bottlings tried. Just a bit simple, red fruited and a little soft. There is some acid, tart cranberry, but it’s one-dimensional structure. Still a pleasant drink but I expected more from this vineyard and producer. As Tom Hill might say about Carignane, maybe it’s just hard to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
Still a huge DL fan, my favorite discovery of the last couple of years.

Not as good as most vintages but I still like this wine. Solid red fruit with typical high acidity. Always a great food wine

Well made wine from a great vineyard. Light and simple in style but delivers at a good price point. Summer backyard drinker.
