Good colour. Little nose and fruit a bit dried out and astringent. This never changed so rather think it has had its day if it ever did. 15% seems a bit bonkers do wonder how well balanced it was. having said that the acidity was not bad.

My comments are similar to those I made in 2012. As one might expect, it is more evolved now, perhaps at its peak or slightly beyond, but still excellent.

Decanted off a modest sediment for 2 hours. Garnet rim, deep ruby center. This wine is old school CdP with more savory than fruit flavors. The anise and iodine stand out along with leather, meat, and underbrush. A suave finish, but not amazing. On plateau with 1-2 years left before tea leaves and dried fruit show up...

14% alc; Mid garnet to orange rim. Classic aromas of garrigue, dried herbs and lavender alongside molasses, toffee with undergrowth and saddle leather typical of old CNP. A fairly penetrating nose and the palate is no different. Iodine, more furniture leather, dried herbs, with liquorice and black treacle going to burnt toffee. Firm textured, drying in the mid palate yet with some freshness and complexity. As the wine opens it evolves to chunks of hard brown sugar cubes, like a burnt marshmallow stick with a toffee lavender character edge. The tannins builds to a firm granularity yet the wine is long. Intriguing wine with the burnt black treacle that at time quite invasive balanced against quite fresh acidity. Challenging but enjoyable.

Showing some serious bricking on the rim. Lighter plum brick robe and center. Pretty mature nose, plum, hoisin, fig, complex, but not long lasting. Medium bodied palate, still good dry tannins, medium acidity, nice cherry and plum fruit. Not a tonne of complexity on the palate, but overall this is a ncie mature CndP.

What a pleasant surprise. Wonderfully balanced with medium bodied weight. Nice cherry-like fruit with active tannins on the finish...but smooth, very smooth, almost delicate in nature. Quite nice.

Blackcurrant, olive, aniseed and leather on the nose. A fine and elegant texture with refreshing acidity give this a feeling of class, while perfectly pitched tannins hold it all together. Bags of flavour to enjoy in a neat, clean and distinguished parcel, this belies it's status as a 'cheap' CNdP. Tastings of other recent vintages suggest that this might be at its apex though. 92 points

A pleasant surprise. Smooth, medium color, and a nicely balanced wine. Reasonably complex with typical CdP spices evident, but, overall, soft and feminine. Excellent price to value ratio.

I really liked this. There was a really good balance of sweet (but not jammy fruit), good acidity and nice complexity. Notes of garrigue, fig and hoisin sauce provided a layer over the raspberry and black cherry fruit. Drinking well now, but obviously has the stuffing to go quite a while longer.

Forest floor and other earthy bits as well as a bit of spearmint. Not a fruit bomb, but some pretty intense fruit (rich, but not too heavy if that makes sense). Elegant and a wonderful change from all the super extract wines, without sacrificing nose or flavor.

Nice wine, reasonably classically styled Chateauneuf and a great deal at $24. Sweet ripe (but shy of jammy) red fruits meld into pepper and a bit of garrigue. Some warm earth. Reasonably round and a bit spicy on the palate. This is not a blockbuster but should improve for a couple of years and drink well for 5 or so.

might be shut down. This bottle had very shy armatics, compared to a prior bottle last early Fall that was aromatically lvely. Not flawed, just not much in the way of aromatics. Hold a while.

Wonderful, complex nose of ??? baked beans, baking spices, fall foliage, some meat, and blood. Lots of garrigue on the palate - definitely not a fruit bomb. Sad that this is our last bottle. What a value.

Impression - still nice and nice value. This was a little different than past bottles, with a beam of raspberry fruit upon opening that turned earthy with maybe half an hour of air, some garrigue also. Consistent with past bottles, nice light-but-round mouthfeel, nice acidity and moderate tannin.

Just a great arguement for value in CDP - while some have spiraled to high cost, this was what, in the neighborhood of $25? And for that, there is loads of complexity missing in many wines twice that. Ok, on to the wine: initial pour a nice ruby red, mid-weight, color with clarity, not opaque at all. At first nose a little reticent showing earth and Rhonefunk but then opened up. On the palate from the pop, first impression is acidity, but after the first 15 minutes, the fruit fills in for surprisingly juicy notes. Other flavors include earth, minerals and some herbs.

Impression only, no score - air helps. At first, tart and thin but after maybe an hour with cork pulled (no decant), it started coming around. Brightly acidic on first taste, it mellowed into a nice wine with hints of flower and earth.

Muted nose hidden under a lid of cardboard. Under the lid we find garrigue and red currant fruit. The palate is more rewarding, sweet red juicy fruity good. Minerally with some heat, without getting too heavy (14,9%). This hedonistic wine is perfect with cheese, tonight pecorino, manchego and comté. To get more payback for the money, lay down for a long time. At least 3-5 years. Or ten more years if you're patient. Our 98s were ready about 2004-2005, displaying a fine spicyness with plum and raisin.

Consumed at home with pan-seared ribeye. Bright disc. Deep ruby robe with red rim. Clean, moderately intense nose of blackberries, licorice, tar and forest floor. Medium-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity, medium, somewhat dry tannins and flavors which mirror the nose. Although the finish is quite long, it is a bit dry. A year or so in bottle will likely benefit this wine. It should drink well for several years thereafter.
