Seattle Wine Group - Nov 2015 Tasting - "Pinots of the World" (Amaroso Room - Wine Storage Bellevue): Peculiar wine, with some signifcant traces of development. Nose had red fruit, with some unripeness (leafiness) and maturity (mushrooms and tobacco). Flavors of red fruit (cranberry), dried fruit (baked cherries) and some herbal (grassy) nuances. Lots of horse leather. Reminded me of an aged Bordeaux. While I enjoyed the wine, it didn't have Pinot Noir typicity.
Another polarizing wine. Loved by the "old world-old wine" crowd (Freelon and Jason), panned by Heather and family (and Lee ... must not forget Lee :-) Bottle = I ... Group rating = 4th ... My rating = 3rd
Joseph Drouhin Dinner (Vancouver, BC): Medium ruby red at the core showing a slight brown hue towards the rim. Beautiful developing nose raspberry, red berries, forest floor and hints of funk. Sweeter flavours with a decent amount of acid but not much in the way of tannins here. This is already has an element of finesse and is very approachable. Excellent.

Light ruby, ripe extracted strawberry fruit on the nose followed by hints of green tea, exotic spice and menthol, medium-bodied with spice and ripe red sweet primary fruit, medium length finish, the over ripeness just lingers, very simple flavors and a crime at this price point

Joseph Drouhin '06 Burgundy Preview (Specialty Imports): The blockbuster of this tasting. Full and rich with nicely extracted red and black berry fruits, cherry. Intertwined is a mix of earth, toasty oak and spices. The acidity is a bit soft when compared to the rest of the bunch, but I think it's the intensity of the fruit that is hiding the acid. The tannins are full blown and offer a dusty mouthfeel, but aren't in the way of the fruit.
