Decent little Sauternes with a big château - this is fully mature but will keep. But I suggest drinking it now as 1999 won’t deliver much more pleasure

Still the same impression as described on 12/25/2016, this time a very good companion with cheese, maybe a bit more coloured, but again very balanced and nothing 'too'; could be my last bottle.

Belle couleur caramel. Des saveurs de pain d’épices, de caramel (coca-cola ?) d’amande. Grande longueur. Aucun regret d’avoir acheté par hasard il y a bientôt vingt ans.

Four days later after my previous note the wine (the last glass) was even more expressive with more orange confite, more sweetness and more bitters to compensate; lovely and lively wine.

Very good, no heavyweight, but the wine has nearly everything you want to find in a sauternes; orange confit, fresh acidity, a hint of wax, nice bitters and a balance between sweetness, the citrus and the bitters, refined aftertaste. Missing some complexity to gain more points.

Today I'm giving 91 points and also for this wine. The vintage is friendly and somewhat modest and the wine shows its qualities in its modesty. Nothing is overdone and from start to finish the wine shows an elegant bouquet with ripe citrus fruit and some honey, the taste is smooth, not too sweet and balanced by a fresh acidity. The aftertaste is quite long, elegant and nearly refreshing.

Très belle couleur dorée soutenue. Agréable équilibre entre sucré et acide. Moelleux en bouche avec une touche de cire d'abeille, de cédrat. Une demi bouteille pour deux c'est parfait.

See my previous tasting note; what I forgot to add to the note, I do now: candied orange and fresh tangerines. This is a sauternes with a lovely balance.

Close to impeccable; modest bitters, modest sweetness, ripe golden, bit dark colour, a bit (but not too) waxy, a whiff of cinnamon and a very good balance between all the components and a firm backbone. What else do you want ( it supported very well a combination of pineapple and white chocolate mousse)?.

First bottle of a case; lovely, slighly waxy, good botrytis bitters, medium sweetness supported by a solid backbone of ripe citrus. This wine still has several years to give a lot of pleasure.

Vancouver Confrerie Chapitre des Valentines (Five Sails - Vancouver, BC): Pleasant nose showing aromas of ripe apricot, stone fruits, honey, white flowers, and fresh orange juice. Plenty of ginger spice on the palate, along with red apples, apricots, a touch of tropical fruits, and toffee. Long finish ending on notes of caramel and candied ginger. Great rich texture on the palate with a bite of spice. A nice way to end the evening. Very good-

La Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Vancouver) (L'Abattoir): Light to medium gold in colour. Nice notes of tropical fruits, burnt sugar, honey and saffron. Medium weight with decent acidity and nice length. This isn’t overly sweet and has a nice rich mouthfeel without being excessively viscous. Can be drunk now with lots of enjoyment. Very good.

I liked this one better young, when it had intriguing grapefruit aromas and flavors. Still nice, with honey, tropical fruit; would have liked a little more acidity.

Hazy notes from last night. Moving along nicely, but I was a bit less impressed this time compared to a couple of years ago. It still has great balance with a nice viscous texture, and less tobacco notes than I remember. Not overly sweet, and with nice tropical fruits and honeyed orange notes (A-).

Golden yellow amber. Botrytis dominates tropical fruits on the nose, fruit regains the lead on the palate. Drinking much better than last year. Seamless palate with long finish, this is developing into a stunner.

Not showing as well as I remember, but still a pleasure. Tropical fruit and sweet brown spice is still there, but the distinct grapefruit aromas I noted & liked last year were nowhere to be found. Good persistance.

Next was a golden colored sweet wine, with a wonderfully complex nose including tropical fruits, tobacco and ginger. Great tasting too, with nice complexity and great balance. It was a Chateau de Malle 1999, and loverly it was now, but this will only get better (A-/A).

Some 2008 and Other Bordeaux (Including 1994 Leovilles) (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Full yellow. Coconut and creme brulee. Medium weight with good mix of spice and citrus, moderate sweetness. I liked this in the lighter, less oily style of Sauternes, and a heck of a deal at $20 for a full bottle.

Same as last bottle. Nice honey and butter aromas; it's lost all of the citrus notes present in its youth. Smooth, clean and vibrant.
