  • Grand Vin quality upon even casually smelling- didin’t quite guess the vintage but you can tell this shows Grand Cru urgency/intensity to the aromas. Salted meats, leather, hallmark briary patch/rose garden scents with quintessential beetroot now complicating the middle-aged fruit. There is an almost soupy-like richness underneath the very quiet, hushed Drouhin style here that blossoms at its own pace; slowly like a flower. Peppercorn spice and incense really bring you to autumn without quite the definitive sous bois stuff, yet. A wine to nurse over several hours and still holding back a bit. A very generous gift from my tasting partner!!!

  • The label on this was torn up but the capsule and cork were in great shape. The nose here explodes with game, leather and cured meats; hedgerow, rich soil and hints of menthol; deep, concentrated red cherry, woodsmoke; only with a lot of airing does it start to go autumnal. I deeply regret opening this now and am deeply disappointed that the “experts” below almost unanimously say “drink up”. This will be much better in 10 years and probably stunning in 20+. 94+
2nd day: placed remainder in smaller bottle, covered with Argon and refrigerated, slowly warmed today. This has loosened up nicely, the autumnal notes more delineated. Graceful power (iron fist in velvet glove thing). Amazing length, richness and finesse. 95+

  • Very nice, tobacco, spicy but a little tart. this drank like I expected the 93 to drink.

  • David's MNSC (Megan's Kitchen): rich and structured, but like the 90 somewhat muted and reticent.
