1999s At Felidia (Felidia): Lacking aromatic complexity. Coffee and raisin notes, a bit drying mouth feel. Comes across a bit austere and a bit musty, perhaps needed more time to open up.

Three Piemontese from the '90s: Served to me blind. Relatively bright red colour (apparently it was browner when it was decanted four hours earlier). Red berry fruit and red cherries on the bouquet, with some tarry, earthy development. Classic Barolo on palate, earthy, with creosote, cigar, underbrush and lots of savoury nuance. Also, slightly pruney, suggesting a fully ripe vintage (I guessed 1998, not 1999). Reserved and restrained with well integrated spherical tannins. It seemed to be in its drinking window now but not falling over yet. Enjoyable. For me, third among the three Piemontese.

(At Ai Fiore - NYC) Delicious, old school Barolo that is earthy with lots of mushroom and some flower notes. Smooth feel that broadens with time in the glass. Medium intensity but well balanced. Excellent pairing with a fine meal. (93)

Drinking well now, though I think this may be just a touch past its peak. Decanted for 2.5 hours. Touch of a raisiny note and seems to have lost a little of its elegant edge. Still enjoyable--drink spoon.

Not mind-blowingly good, but very nice. Balanced and elegant style, very clean. Took a while to open up. Would decant it next time or open the bottle several hours before serving.

Had this at a restaurant in Chicago. Basically popped and poured - which was good. Should not be decanted. Drank really well from about 5 minutes after opening to about an hour and half, then alot of the fruit fell apart. Quite, quite good. nice, dark fruit, really earthy with most of the tannins integrated well. Its not too big, but drank well. Slightly hot on the tail end on the alcohol.
