Drinking this at Villa Pattono in Piemonte, owned by the Riatti family. Gorgeous when we opened it, 94-95 points, vigorous fruit and tannins. After about an hour, it started falling apart, getting flabby. Other earlier notes suggested it was past its prime. Still lovely but drunk it quickly after opening!

Return to Piemonte!; 11/25/2021-12/4/2021 (Castello di Sinio, Alba, other various locations): Very unfair to be disappointed but I thought we were getting two vintages of the Rocche and in fact we understand every vintage before this one was. At this point they perhaps truly embraced their influence on ‘Crus’ and started this own wine. It is more standard older barolo by which I mean still some fruit but more tired and ‘caught’, still some leather, a wine that has been around and maybe will continue to be.

This is a very nice and drinkable wine. It has aged pretty well. Will never be a true top wine compared to some of the other producers, but the bottle holds great value for money.

Very drinkable, quite rich, quite soft and even a bit fat with notes of chocolate et al, very true to the vintage, sexy style. Will kepp, but seems mature. Good bargain. #withU&A

I really like this wine; unfortunately it's a singleton I purchased on sale many years ago. Although it la is the punch and power of many newer-style Barolos, it more than makes it up in finesse and elegance.
The robe is medium dark but still translucent at the core, although lightening at the edges. There is a delicious typical Barolo nose of crushed pepper and a whiff of rubber ( or as some prefer tar). The wine really comes together on the palate, wonderful secondary flavor of underbrush and spices wrapped elegant, but understated, fruit. Fine-grained silky tannins keep everything sprightly and the finish is long and not rough or dry, has is the case with many Barolos. It's hard to imagine this getting any better but it should hold for another 3-4 easily.

Clean, expressive classic Nebbiolo nose with dried florals, tar, minerality and cherry fruit. Deep garnet in color with some bricking, slow tears. Medium bodied with medium + tannin, medium + acidity, medium alcohol. Flavors of plums, spiced cherry pie dominate. Nice balance right now, finishes a bit short.

It had all of the elements - brick color, fruit nose with smoky overtones & strong tar fruit taste etc but somehow it seemed a bit disjointed. Still a nice wine but not great.

Drinking beautifully now. Medium-bodied with nice cherry fruit with rose petal and savory notes. Not sure how much longer these will go but don't see a reason to hold them much longer.
