A well cellared bottle, showing beautifully. Deep green gold. A bouquet of tinned peach, quince, green apple, jasmine, tinned pineapple and honeycomb with a touch of sewing machine oil. Also a little oxidised with lanolin and creamy notes. This wine is all about texture. In the mouth, nicely glycerol and viscous, quite oily and waxy. Tactile. Beeswax, quince, pear, pineapple and fallen yellow apple with something more savoury, perhaps field mushrooms and certainly lanolin. Weighty and tannic. Lower acidity. By the second evening it had lost a little of its shape and freshness of the night before. If you want any primary fruit character at all to this wine, it's a 'drink soon' proposition. In future, I must remember to keep the occasional Rhône blanc like this for 10+ years, rather than consuming them all in the first 3-4 years.

Fairly golden colored. Relatively lighter than expected green apple, quince slightly oily flavors, almost tending to a slightly oxidized finish. Holding well, but a bit uninspiring.

Golden rich color with strong legs and tears. Having trouble on nose picking up fruit. Mouth feel was full and oily with apricot, peach and pear on the mid palate. Soft tannins and good acidity With a lingering butterscotch finish

Waxy, lightly honeyed notes. Apples, stone fruit. Becoming vegetal/herbaceous. Palate is more spicy - white pepper and maybe some clove. Nice weight with fairly long, apricot and quince fruit flavors.

Great wine with lots going on. Needs a few minutes to open up, but then sweet flavors of ripe peaches with wet stone. With more time, tangerine with floral undertones. More time still, and you get some lemon citrus, macadamia nut, tropical flavors, and minerals. The “waxiness” is there, but I enjoyed this characteristic and I like the thick texture. Long finish. Paired excellently with prosciutto wrapped in Mozzarella and creamy brandade; good match with Quail, though slightly overpowered by braised sweetbreads. At five years, it was drinking fine and could have sat a few more years. Excellent wine! On day two, this wine still gave me new flavors. I picked up more of the honeyed characteristics with notes of orange blossoms. Also, more notes of tea and green coffee.

Waxy, lanolin, mineral notes. Appley. Fairly restrained palate. Melon/apple fruit, some spice and herbaceous characters. But compared to the previous 2 bottles, this seemed much less open. A closed phase perhaps?

In Sonoma with Eric and Brian (Enoteca Della Santina Next Door): I was a bit suspect that this might be in an in between phase or worse, over the hill, but it showed quite well. Golden in color. The nose was slightly waxy with some floral tones, also some honey suckle and melon. On the palate, this is crisp and refreshing with some complexity. Layers of melon and tropical fruits. Clean finish. A pleasant way to start.

Lightly yellow straw colour. Nose of fresh lemons, other fresh citrus notes, lanolin and crushd stones. Palate is similar understated lemony citrus, nice minerality, fresh white peaches and very smooth weight with just a light touch of wax and lanolin in the mouthfeel. Persitent and very balanced. Refreshing moderate acidic cut. Understated but persistent length. Sipped our way through a cold bottle on an extremely hot and sultry Hong Kong evening. It paired beautifully with the canapes of rabbit terrine and pork rillettes.......er, and a Cohiba Siglo VI cigar. This is a charming alternative to chardonnay or sauvignon blanc and is more refreshing on a hot evening outdoors than a Condrieu.

Aromas of stone fruit, ripe apple and a distinctive honeyed creaminess. Palate is full, rich and slightly spicy too. Apricot and peach flavours, some citrus peel, and with yet more of that waxy cream. Persistent. Great wine with 2-3 years more life ahead of it.

I couldn't disagree more with these reviews. This is an absolutely lovely wine. Balanced, nice fruit, complexity and will only get better with a little more time. I think I am being light at a 92.

Nicely fruited but a little flabby. Creamy ripe oranges and stone fruits predominate in this slightly oily, slightly wood-tinged wine. Not enough acidity here, though.

A laser beam of a wine. Very light yellow color. Stony nose that is lined with apple and pear fruit, along with a touch of spice. In the mouth, focused and linear, with minerals all over the place marrying with the apple and pear fruit. Bright-yet-refined acidity. Long finish. Lovely. A-

Finer and much more floral than the Becassonne. Some wood toast present. Full and ripe, nice orange citrus. Although there is some acidity, it is still too oily for my taste. Alas, that is always my problem with white Chateauneuf, but this was not a particularly bad offender in this way.

Blind tasting at Mark's (Chicago): Tasted blind. Weird as it didn't show at all like the one I had 3 weeks ago. This one was flabby, creamy texture with some orange blossom notes along with some honey and mango notes. It was almost sweet in the mouth...which never happened before. Bottle variation is my guess...

Very good Cdp blanc. Aromatic nose, very floral with a touch of fennel and some exotic fruits/stone fruits. Med body, balanced with medium acidity and palate matching the nose. Needs a little time to open up and it actually drinks a little better than 2 months ago.

Sadly, this was well past its due date. Pretty golden color, but a subdued nose and a heavily oxidized flavor. Even cheese couldn't save it.

Slightly tart, ripe green apples. Maybe almost a touch oxidized. Not my personal style, but pleasant enough.
