  • Opened during lunch. Cork pulled out in two pieces thanks The Durand. Terribly mouldy (pictured). Brilliant cherry colour. Meaty aromas melted into a ferrous pot also with cherries and sweet herbs. Little modest right as expected. On the palate showed more expressive, silk texture for a savoury, medium-bodied wine with a decent length and a strawberry aftertaste.
Supposedly a rustic, sturdy wine in origen that has been tamed by the times. One bottle remaining surely for auction.

Abierto durante el almuerzo. Corcho sacado en dos piezas gracias a The Durand. Terriblemente enmohecido (en la foto). Color cereza brillante.

  • Deliciously mature Burgundy that is still fresh and powerful thanks to the 1999 vintage yet showing plenty of earth, dried floral and mushroom complexity. Lovely umami textures. Consistent with a bottle from four+ years ago -- will hold for 5-10 more at this level.

  • What Nanda wrote. A relatively simple red burg drinking at peak (or damn well near it). A killer showing - with the stuffing to go on for 10 years, easy. Dark and red fruits, discreet tannins and a secondary nose. Lovely

  • A humble little Burgundy that is in a gorgeous spot at the moment. Pop n pour. The nose starts with ripe black cherry with a good dose of earth funky. The funk blows off with 15 minutes and you're left with secondary old leather and damp earth notes matched with still fresh and rich black cherry fruit. Has the stuffing to hold for 10+ years.

  • lovely red fruited and savory, with some spice. It's fresh and pure. In a good spot now and very enjoyable. Complicated enough to keep your interest, but easy to enjoy. 89

  • Still quite good, but my last bottle two yrs ago must have been better timed. So I guess it is time to drink up

  • Wow. Nice and fresh. Dark cherries, licorice, well defined sweetness on the palate. Better than I expected. Drinking superbly.

  • A bit of a roller coaster here. Day one, not entirely enjoyable. I think it's VA not brett, but on day one it's distracting, and a bit of a masochistic exercise. By day 2 it blows off for the most part. Rounder and more supple day two. More on the red fruit side of pinot, with some savory mix , nice texture, and reasonable structure. A nice mouthfeel, and of reasonable size body, but not clumsy. This is completely enjoyable if not terribly complex. No barn burner, and honestly not very enjoyable day one, but this fleshed out, gained balance and depth overnight. Something I would serve an in law on day one. Quite enjoyable if not a revelation on day two. Certainly good for the tariff. 88 pts

  • Initially very primary. Needs at least 1,5 hours of air to come together. It has a deep, sappy core of red and dark fruits with nice meaty tones. The wine has an excellent balance with a good structure and a nicely smooth texture. The meaty aftertaste is long and very nice. This is a wonderful wine that is only beginning to drink well. I will try to hold the rest of my bottles for a few years longer.

  • Quite delicious. Confident and comfortable. Tighter knit and cooler than Jadot's Boucherottes 1999, offering less on the nose but more on the palate (beetroot and strawberry fanning out in a typical peacock's tail) and a finer structure. A better education perhaps. Consume with confidence.

  • Lovely wine. Drank it with a thick Fillet of Cod with a red wine reduction and potato pure. Good combination. The strength of the wine matched the sauce.
The wine was quite spicy and had a lovely nose. Lots of red berries. A hint of rasperries. Lethery aromas and hints of stable. The wine was not terribly structured. Resonably long finish.
Mature. Ready for drining but can probably hold on for a 2-3 years longer.

  • 1999 Red Burgundy Tasting: Tasting, brief note. Moderate fruit with a slightly rustic edge and firm tannins that for right now dominate the palate. Try again in 5 years.
