Another really nice bottle of mature bordeaux. Very balanced, classic in every way. Really nice for what it is. (Was extremely modest in price on release and well stored since).

purchased in Aquitaine during my first trip to the region with my friend Ralf in 1994. cellared in the meantime. cork is wet up to 5mm, and crumbly, but tight, removal in 2 pieces. P&P.eye: deep ruby with bricking, 3mm fading, sediment. nose: black cherry, cooked prunes, pencil shavings, menthol, vegetable broth, lactic acid. palate: refreshing menthol note. medium weight. tannins fine but surprisingly prominent. finish 18 Caudalie, stable. this is surprisingly appealing, maybe a bit past peak, but not much. mature Bordeaux is worth the wait

Ruby core with significant bricking around the rim. No decant. Pleasant nose of cedar, white pepper and a little damp earth. Fully mature, not a tremendous palate, more about texture and grip than flavor. Drink up!

I'm probably being liberal with this 90. I didn't take notes. It was fully mature. Perhaps a bit past its peak. Soft. Not much grip. Pleasant enough. Try one if you've got them. This was my last bottle of a case.

Deep ruby color, clear at rim. Deep, sweet plum aromas with hints of leather and shoe polish paste. Very appealing soft texture, fat and round dark cherry and plums on the palate. Clearly Merlot-driven, it is nicely balanced with low acidity and resolved tannins. Much better than a bottle I had a couple years back.

Wow! This must be at its peak now. Could it be better? Rich compelling nose of sweet oak, fruits and spices. Very inviting. In the mouth the flavors are similar and and well integrated. The finish is long and the tannins nearly completely resolved. Drink this over the next several years and watch for signs of deterioration.

Quite sweet on the nose, notes of spices , dark fruit, not much depth. Good acidity, well balanced, quite linear, but nice. Drink up. 89-91

Opened up 1 hour before. Double decanted. However, well past its prime. Large bottles might still be great?

From a 3L. An old, elegant soul. This wine has lost all flesh, yet showed pretty mature flavors – just too little. A bit hollow, but pleasant. (87)
