So huge surprise to still have this 2006 in my cellar. After reading some of the tasting notes from 2013 that suggested that it was slightly over the hill, I didn’t know what to expect. Enjoying it now with some pasta with veggies and sausage and it’s still awesome. You might argue the flavors aren’t as rich and deep as a newer vintage but they are still balanced with integrated tannins. Acid still comes through, making it excellent with tomato based sauces. Great job Benessere!

last of 4 bottles, and I had somehow forgotten what a pleasant surprise this was for the WTSO price of $16/free shipping. was a bit awkward on opening but really opens up nicely in the glass. soft smooth mouthfeel (after 15 minutes in glass) and gentle plum notes. very well enjoyed.

Color of a pinot. Nose, upon opening, almost exactly like that of a pinot. Taste is light, but unique. Some pepper and tannin on the finish. Overall light but balanced. Never really tastes like an Italian sangiovese, although becomes slightly similar with some air.

beautiful rich nose leads to a palate of plum and apricot. smooth tannins across a mouthfeel which is gentle on the midpalate but a touch harsh around the sides & back of the tongue. Far better with food than by itself, would pair well with pizza or pasta with red sauce.

Prettty medium-deep garnet in glass with a come-hither nose of spicy red fruit and tobacco leaf. Palate opens with red currant, vanilla spice cake, cherry , coffee and black plum flavors, closes with a long and snappy finish. Acidity balances flavors, and still carries a nice grainy tannic structure. Could age for quite a while yet, but drinking deliciously now.

Nice bouquet upon opening. Let it sit a little. Then it will be more enjoyable. I think this was just a little past its prime

this last bottle seemed a little less characterful than the previous ones- maybe it was just too hot a night for any red wine.

Very nice balance and mouthfeel -- excellent with slow-cooked spaghetti bolognese

Delightful. Bright red and black fruit. Some coffee and tobacco. Tannins are a little edgy but not intrusive. Held up well on Day Two.

Pleasant, drinkable. Medium color, medium body. Plum, cherry, some tannins -- quite a tart effect overall. Went well with spaghetti bolognese.
