Light straw. Nose lemon peel, flowers and hint of honey. Light palate of crisp citrus and pleasant acidity. The palate doesn't live up to the nose. Not much here. Just OK.

90% Viura 10% Malvasia.Viura is hard to get right, but Muga always manages a top notch wine. Aromas of cream, fig, mineral and fresh herb are highlighted by a bright floral streak. In the mouth, spice and herb flavors add complexity to tart apple and citrus flavors. This wine is better now than on release, it is still quite juicy and lively.

White flowers, minerals, lemon zest and fresh garden herbs on the nose. The mouth feel is crisp and refreshing yet round and full bodied at the same time. Really tart fruits like under ripe pineapple, green apple with some more of the lemon zest. The gum-tingling minerals and screaming acidity give this wine fabulous structure and the ability to stand up with any food. Fabulous bottle. Even more fabulous considering the $12 price tag. Consistent tasting notes.

All floral nose ... lots of white flowers with maybe a hint of lemon rind after it opened up a bit. Huge tart lemon attack, like popping a lemon Sourpuss candy into your mouth. Mouthwatering and refreshing, yet full and round at the same time. Great structure and acidity too. A nice bottle at any price. Dynamite bottle considering it's $12 price tag. Go get some more.

Green/gold color. Aromatic earth driven nose; potting soil, old button mushrooms, toasted wood. High acid, medium plus body, steamed green vegetables, lemongrass. Long finish. Challenging white, enjoyed this the most of the Spain vs Italy white wine tasting.

Popped and poured-- celery, citrus, a touch of pear, and fresh summer fruit on the nose, some minerality, a hint of oak appearing after a few minutes in the glass; very soft mouthfeel, delicate, balanced oak comes out in the mouth along with more citrus and summer fruit; very crisp, slightly tart medium-long finish; perhaps a bit out of balance, a lot of acidity, almost mouth-watering . . . Overall, an enjoyable bottle, tablemate dubbed it "champagne without the bubbles"; not a fruit or mineral blast, but refreshing; would repurchase for a summer night

Aromas: Eucalyptus, floral, anise, pineapple, lemon, lanolin, peach. Pretty much all over the place.
Flavors: Lemon, custard, vanilla, peach.
Overal: meh. The nose was interesting, but the taste wasn't my cup of tea. It seemed somewhere between a chardonnay and sauv blanc. Creamy, custard of a chard, but an annoying citrus bite of a sauv blanc which I personally don't care for. However, the chili masked that citrus and actually wasn't bad. So does this mean that it's a food wine, or does it mean it's a crappy wine that needs something to mask the annoying flavors? I'm going for the latter.

Pale yellow, medium-bodied. Oak and lemon nose. Creamy oak on the palate with bright citrus acidity. Finishes dry and a bit short but the overall effect was very refreshing. A good appertif at a good value.

A little research told me this wine is made with 100% new oak barrels. My alarm bells were ringing but here it was really well done. There was body and fat but it was also refreshing, with some considerable length. The finish was probably the most impressive and surprising thing. This was a really good food wine and should be very adaptable. It could handle lots of heavier foods that I would normally pair with Chardonnay like pork, roast chicken or salmon but I reckon it is also capable of handling lighter fare. My eyes are opened on an area where I would have been prejudiced due to the reds. For that reason alone this is worth remembering. (aug ’08)

Very interesting white from Rioja. Slow fermentation in new French oak and 3 months on fine lees. Light yellow, firm acidity and finish. Oak, lemon and tropical fruit (pinneapple) on the nose. The oak is even stronger on the mouth but it is balanced and refreshing. A glass or two are probably enough, but wouldn't mind keeping a bottle in the cellar to share with friends this summer. $10/glass at Tia Pol.

Pale yellow in color showing delicate aromas of lemon and pear with just a hint of wood on the end. Very well integrated and sensual. In the mouth, the wine is dry with a gentle acidity that perfectly drapes over my tongue and slowly ebbing away to leave only a light floral finish. This is an incredible wine, elegant and feminine, showing a range of flavors from white flowers to lemon grass over a lovely cream base. 4.5/5

Very pale in color with light barrel aromas that mingle with rich pear notes and white flowers. Great example of barrel fermentation adding to the richness of the nose without becoming the nose. In the mouth this has a huge acidity with a lemony freshness. Minerals, and light clove come in on the finish of this fully dry wine. Fresh and lively summer sipper. 3.5/5

Very pale in color with a floral nose that is sweet tart like with a touch of wood. Lots of acidity and apples notes, and with time shows a floral freshness, with lemony minerals. With time more of the oak shows up on the nose but does not overwhelm the pretty nature of the wine. 3/5

Lightweight, a bit nondescript in the flavor profile. Just a pleasant little white wine. A bit overpriced at $16.

Expressive nose of white flowers and rich fruit, but this has too much oak on the palate. Dial that down a bit and this could be quite nice.

Wine Guild of Charlottesville does Spanish Values with Country Vintner (Guild offices): From Viura and Malvasia varietals. Vibrant lemon notes on the nose. The palate was more muted, however, with light flavors of lemon sauce and asparagus. Certainly interesting and not at all your typical white wine.
