Its amazing how much this wine fooled me blind. I am completely blown away by the old world touch of this wine. I found it to be much like a 2nd label bordeaux, young vines etc.

This is showing well and was popular with the wine tasting group. I brought it as a bonus wine to drink after the formal tasting.
It's more restrained with good balance. Definitely not over the top. Nice darker fruits on the nose and the palate. More claret like than brambly. Good finish. This would pair well with a lot of beef dishes.
The oak was slightly intrusive. I think it might integrate better with more age. This has got several years to go.

Dark red color with limited transparency. Nose of earth, blackberry, cherry, and vanilla. Palate is full of sweet berry fruit, with blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry dominating. There is an earthy undertone throughout and a vanilla sweetness that carries into a medium-long finish. Some licorice notes emerge with time in the glass. This is drinking well now. Drink or hold.

Cherry, zinberry and oak nose. Leanish oak, smoke, leather, cherry and pepper flavors. The lean character is more of a rock-like, old-World character. This is among the better Ridge Zins I have had in recent months. I like the fact that it was not overblown or overripe.

Dusty puple/black. A bit funky on the nose. The American oak showing her skill. Bright sharp/sour fruit, smoky fruit fills the palate and a nice clean finish. Similar notes as EastO.

Saturday at Lee and Lisa's for a shared BBQ - brought - opened and enjoyed the '06 Carmichael and Dusi. All enjoyed both with the Dusi presenting a greater floural component - lavendar (?) and the Carmichael peppery and complex - Ridge Zin and summer BBQs always a combo!

Ok. not stellar. Seemed a bit disjointed to me. will have the second half of the bottle tonight. Will be interesting to see if it improves with slow O'ing overnight.

It is our understanding that this bottle can only be purchased directly from the vineyard. We picked this one up on a trip to Napa in April of 2009. Tasting Notes: The Ridge Carmichael has a rosy appearance with medium legs. The aroma is reminiscent of huckleberries, plum, toasted oak, and finishes with a touch of alcohol and spoiled milk. In the mouth, the zinfandel has a smooth and bright texture. Flavors of cherry, cranberry, and green beans are supported by a light minerality and a bit of heat from the alcohol. With a light to medium body, this wine finishes smoothly across the palate for a pleasing experience overall.

Memorial Day weekend Sunday BBQ with Steve, Sue, Mike, Rachel and John and Linda. Baby Back ribs Hudson valley veal sausage, Astoria Greek Sausages, salad, etc. Served '04, '05 and '06 Carmichael - I enjoyed '04 the best - all were fine with the BBQ.

14.2% alc...quite delicious, though not sure this is going anywhere long term...zinberries, both red and black, vanilla, dried herbs on the nose. Appears with some heat, but good overall texture. No tannic structure. Drink or hold short term.

96% Zin, 4% PS...14.2% alcohol...allowed to decant for around 2 hours...at this point, I get a fair amount of vanilla and oak on the nose, toasty, blackberries, black pepper...when I first read the alcohol % I was excited, but the alcohol shows through on the nose in a pretty intimidating way, even at my 53 ish cellar degrees...full-bodied, medium tannin, not a lot of supporting acid, fleshy, flashy, sweet - not over the top, but not really that impressive. Will try one next summer with BBQ, don't see the need for this to lay down IMO.

A good Ridge Zin. Nose of spice- taste red fruit and pepper. Girlfriend loved this wine... I loved the nose more than the taste. A little heat at the finish as well. Overall a good Zin and I think with some more time this wine will improve. I like more dark/black fruits in my Zin. Very young wine that I just received in my ATP shipment. I like to taste a bottle right away to see if I want to buy more.
