medium light red with clear edges. Intense dill and creamy red fruit nose. Dried red fruit flavours and a very dry acid finish. The nose promises a lot but the palate has passed on.

“G8 summit – A journey on the Duero-Douro-River” (blind), Wine 8: The wine had a slightly reserved nose of red fruit, spices, vanilla, a hint of chocolate and mild ethereal notes. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, spices and vanilla, with medium-plus acidity and tannin and good length. This medium-bodied, medium-complex wine had good concentration and was holding up very well. It is drinking well now, but there is no need to hurry either.

4 mixed wines and then war-time vintage wines (London): Oak and blackcurrants greet the nose, followed by vanilla pod. Relatively closed, the entry has lively acidity and tart blackcurrants and feels a little hollow and watery (poorer crop?) with some oak infusions. Very much a youthful vibrancy, the mid-palate offers some cherry notes and plenty of fine grained by firm tannin. Lacks some mid-palate.
