Opened by a restaurant without decanting so substantial sediment remained in the wine. However, the wine had a beautiful nose, i.e. ripe fruity blending nicely with oak, and hints of dark chocolate. Full bodied, fine tannins mellowing with some minerality on the finish. Thoroughly enjoyable at this point.

Mashed cherries, dark chocolate, powerful violets, and oak on an impressive nose. Oh wow. Luscious violet palate with cherries and ripe blueberries. Complex mouthfeel and classy oak. The first half is more floral and the second half introduces dark chocolate and a sweet finish. So much going on here, and all of it good. I've seen negative reviews on this, but in my opinion this is a wonderful wine. I plan on buying many more bottles of this.

Color poured as ruby, slight bricking. the tip of the nose was citrus, honey vanilla to orange turns floral and ripe red fruits. Medium plus tannin (apple skins) and dried cranberry. Nice Rhone blend. Drink now.

wish I'd decanted an hour plus like my bottle tag note to self said--which I overlooked. This started well but ended terrific as the deep intense fruit and tannins opened up

Great wine, dry enough to suck the water out of stone to start, opened up brilliantly after very short time, and not even decanted. Seriously good stuff for the price tag.

Pop and pour ... Inky, blue-black fruit to open, with a crispness and a hit of mineral. Rich, but not too heavy. Leather, cassis and earth. A very nice, and unique, profile. Eminently drinkable. Our second vintage of this and both have been outstanding.
Day two (no preservation, just corked and stored on counter) ... This got deeper and richer on day two. Vanilla and chocolate notes came to the forefront. Silkier and smoother, too. Very reminiscent of Clio, actually. If scoring for day two, I'd bump it up a point or two. Really delicious!

Stamford Book Club No. 3 - Spanish authors; 7/17/2012-7/18/2012 (Casa Vadel): The bottle telegraphs the contents to a T. Deep dark garnet in color. The nose is dark and heavy with black and red fruits, espresso and chocolate, oak and leather. The palate is similar - full bodied with dark fruits, spice and pepper. Finish was surprisingly short, but good. Overall, this was an enjoyable wine, but clearly heavier than the Riojas. Interesting new region for me. (4+13+16+7)

Brown Bag Wine Dinner @ Le Provence, Goral Gables; 4/17/2012-4/18/2012: - Purple color with fast forming legs. It's in total harmony with a full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Ron's wine. Ellen would love this. A tossup for me with the Altesino. A rich Grenache, Syrah dominant blend.

The 2007 Mas de Can Blau is a huge extracted red with loads of black fruit, toasted oak, grill along with some floral and spice. Full-bodied with round mouth-coating tannins that roll right across your palate. The finish is not the longest but extremely smooth and delicious. (Drink 2011 - 2015) - JD

Overripe and big. Like the first sip but loses it after. Much better wine from Spain for the money.
