Popped and decanted for ~1 hour. Pale, light ruby with a slight hint of orange. Floral nose laced with strawberry and tea. Still really bright acid and strong minerality on the light+ body, with an undercurrent of earth throughout. Incredibly thin tannins. I want more!!

Deep rich red with an earthy hue. Rich ripe fruit, nutty oak, blood and plum, rich earthy notes. Silky, elegant structure with good acidity and fine furry tannins. Deeply flavoured, ripe dark plummy fruits and a distinct aged earthy and gamey flavour. Delicious mature burgundy, still with a lovely refined character.

Reticent both on the nose and palate for longer than one would expect... but this opens up with fairly ripe strawberry sauce/shortcake, red cherries, almond paste, sweet spices, tea spice and a rising soily, sous bois component. Very nice but perhaps not as accessible as previous bottles.

A delicate but very present nose of crushed strawberry and red cherry with bits of licorice, mineral, bits of sous bois and blood popping through underneath rose and violet. Svelte and minerally in the mouth with good acidity and still shows a bit of room for future development. Very fine tannins. Remarkable purity as always with this producer. Lovely

A Few Days in Paris; 6/10/2014-6/14/2014 (Various Locations, Paris): Pale ruby. Torrefaction more than light red fruit on the nose. Light weight, some crunchy light red berries, but the wood robs the finish of its length, instead giving an odd, astringent chocolatey quality. I've tasted this twice over the year or so with the same generally negative impression. Difficult to understand since the Cras from this fragile vintage is wonderful and not marked by intrusive wood.
Coming back to it the next day, I must say that the terroir spoke more forcefully and the wood less so. Maybe I am too pessimistic about its future.

For those keeping track, this is actually a Fuees, not a Veroilles. Nice nose. Better with salmon casserole than roast chicken. Acidic. Nobility.

Random Notes from Travels in France; 4/6/2012-4/14/2012 (Paris, Loire, Alsace): Deep ruby. Obvious wood, more so than any Barthod I can recall. Red fruit and cocoa but dominated by oak. Not nearly as good as the sublime Cras from this year. Disappointing.
