The nose has refined. Gone is the jammy fruit, replaced by lighter fresh plums with an added dimension of fresh herbs (thyme). The palate is also rounded but not cloying. The tannins are perfectly melted giving just enough structure to balance the acidity. The finish is a mix of spices and a slight coffee note. Over all, a beautiful shiraz that is leagues beyond the Australian stereotype.

Fairly dark nose, with aromas of plums and prunes and dark chocolate. The palate echoes the nose with added hints of mushrooms and undergrowth. The finish is all smooth tannins and medium acidity. Ready to drink now!

Teusner is a new winery founded in 2001. This wine Albert is produced using unirrigated old vines. The wine has very strong and concentrated nose of black fruit, earth, spices and tarry cassis. On the palate, the wine has medium to full bodied and very full flavoured. Aftertaste not especially long. If you are looking for a full throttled Shiraz, then I think you will not be disappointed by this wine. But this is not my cup of tea, esp. I don't enjoyed the tarry flavour which I find is quite common in many Australian wines.

30 minute decant. An excellent wine. Wonderful deep purple colour, strong but not overpowering nose of berries and smoke. the liquorice came out on the palate and was well integrated. Mild tannics. I believe this has some way to go with potential to improve, but I will drink more in 2010
