I am happy to report that this wine was not completely past its prime. That being said, I would drink it up soon. For the price, it fought above its weight. Plenty of cherry and brush. I would describe like a Rosso di Montalcino with a couple a years of age.

An overall well balanced wine. Shows off the cabernet structure and blackfruit flavors to begin, adding in just enough of the sangiovese based red fruit some brightness and balance. Tannins are integrated and lead to a smooth finish. This wine is at peak and it continues to drink extremely well. I expect it to stay at this level for a few more years.

Though past the drinking window on most critics list, this wine has plenty of years left. Smooth tannins and nice acidity. Plum, cassis, and blackberry taste. Falls a little short at the end but still a decent wine.

Well made especially for the price point. Drinking well at the moment with plenty of floral tones and a smooth, bright , clean finish. Not overly dry as some Italian wines can be without food.

Cherry and leather on the nose. Medium to full bodied and very smooth and silky. Starts off with all red fruit, predominantly red cherry. After an hour, it deepens considerably and moves more to the blackfruit end of the flavor spectrum as the cabernet and merlot become more expressive. Good length on the finish. Overall, well integrated, balanced and drinking at peak. Very enjoyable wine, especially for the money.

Interesting wine. Not a great wine but it had a lot of character. Opened for 90 minutes before consuming first few sips were weak and un-inspiring. However, as the evening progressed this showed an expressive old-world nose of dried fruit and mossy earth. A dry wine for sure but with a long finish and it kept me interested.

PnV. Opaque black purple to the core and to the rim. Charcoal anise black cherry earth and porcini aromas. Medium weight with silky tannins but a nice grip at the end. Black fruits anise charcoal and cocoa flavours . Lingering finish of espresso amaro and dried cherries. Really nice stuff. I think it is at its peak as it has softened a lot since the last bottle and does not need any decanting to show well.

This wine is gorgeous in the glass, bright purple. it's a screwcap, so I'll admit, I wasn't expecting something amazing. But don't be fooled, because this is a seroius wine. The nose is dense and sexy, with aromas of currants, plums, meat and loam. This wine smells like a raspberry bush in the woods, sweet but so earthy. The palate is really bright. Right from the start, this wine coats the palate with fruit and acid. The tannins are like coffee grounds in the mouth. It's really an incredible mouthfeel. It must be noted: this wine contains oak. That's the disclaimer. I think it has enough acid and tannins to balance out, but some traditionalists might find this too oaky. The flavors linger long on the finish, which ends with a touch of dark chocolate and toasted marshmallow. I'll admit, I haven't had many 2007 Super Tuscans, but if this is any indicator of the quality of that vintage, I'll seek more out. This wine is an absolute steal at $21!

Decanted for an hour. It had a plum and fig scent. Very pleasing. The taste had a little acid and prominent tannins. This wine needs at least another year. All in all it was pretty decent.

Double-decanted and enjoyed mostly on the next day. Fairly modern nose offers sweet dark cherry, meat, dirt, and vanilla-flavored oak. Once the wine really opens up the nose gets quite massive and in your face. Full bodied and quite balanced with a fairly long, smooth finish. Some disturbing oak spiciness in the finish, though. Flavor profile consists mostly of sour cherry, plum and oak but there's also a smoky component. Underneath all the extraction and oak there is a really nice acidic backbone and firm tannins. I think this really needs to be enjoyed at a correct temperature since the wine really gets worse the closer it gets to the modern room temperature, with the fresh fruit turning into jammy one. Overall a pretty nice young wine, although a little too oaky for my taste. Could get better with further aging.

Drank over three nights. Just because of laziness, I left this in the decanter and simply placed the open vessel in my (very cold) garage on nights 1 and 2. To my very great surprise the wine got better and better from day 1 to day 2 to day 3. I will try to leave the remaining bottles alone for a while to see if more time sideways accomplishes what a few days in a decanter did.

A whiff of shoe polish gives way to red licorice, cherry and vanilla. The fruit is masked on the front end by a sheen of acidity and followed by some slightly drying tannins, but the pieces are in place for this to improve. It's already good.

Decanted an hour. Medium ruby color. Nice nose with cherry, black raspberry, smoke, black berries, and a nice earthy element. Medium body with ripe tannins and very nice acidity. Nice finish with just a bit of oak becoming a bit too front and center. This will be better if the oak integrates better on the finish, but it is still a very nice food wine.

Drank over 2 days. Medium to full body. First night palate dominated by jam like fruit and a slightly bitter note, tannins well present (87). Second night better as the fruit is less present and tannins soften (but still present). There is also some oak coming through now. Medium finish, pretty nice. Will wait with the last bottle for perhaps 2 years but would not buy this wine again - overall 88

Opened and decanted let breathe for 3.5 hours. On opening aroma was very acidic. Deep reddish purple with clear rim. Lovely funky dried cherry, plum loam and cedar nose - lots going on. Racy medium weight with grippy finish. Very earthy with plum cherry and dried cranberry earthy herbal finish with touch of anise at the end. Real good on its own. Sings with food. Good 2-3 years before it peaks.

Deep garnet in color. Let the aroma blow off the ozone finally revealing crushed red berries. Medium body with mild acidity and just barely noticeable tannin on the finish. Bing cherry, cranberry, black currant, minerals, and a touch of toast rounding this one out. The finish falls a bit limping to the finish line. J.S. gave this a 91 and I'm not sure why. It's a cab based blend with only 20% indigenous Sangiovese. They call it Rosso Tuscano but it doesn't fit. A good wine yes but this is not a classic by any means. It's not what I want from Tuscany. This wine is pretty and stylish but like an underweight wanna be super model she doesn't go the distance. She's so hungry she limps off stage. This wine wants to be something it cannot be.

I've been away and came home to find a nearly full bottle of this in the refrigerator. My wife said she opened it and it was awful but she thought I might like it so she saved it. I asked her what was wrong with it. Her words..."Barnyard. No, worse than barnyard." I asked her to describe the actual flavor. Her response: "The kind of flavor that makes you gag." She can be a bit melodramatic. I suspect it's a flawed bottle--I'll give it a try tonight and see what I think.

Drank straight away from the bottle. In the first hour, it was all cabernet sauvignon. However, in the 2 hour, it showed itself as an australian shiraz....very interesting.....The wine was garnet/purple in colour.Medium, almost full bodied. Blueberries, blackcurrant, plum, tobacco, wet stone, french oak, white pepper and hint of coffee and herbal characters. Sweet tannin and a long finish. Very nice. Drink now -2015...

Wow. We ordered this at an Italian restaurant and it went very well with cheese, meat, and pasta. This surprised me because it was much more complex than the 2006 NC, which is also a nice wine. A bit of forest floor with red raspberry and green bell pepper. 40% cabernet, 20% merlot, 20% syrah, and 20% sangiovese. The cabernet and syrah elements were quite apparent at the front and in the middle, but the finish was pure sangiovese.

Acidic and bretty - disappointing. Even with significant air, this did not improve much.

Very nice. Smooth with raspberry, blueberry flavors, and a slightly earthy undertone. Medium bodied.

Decanted for about 1.5 hours and was strong on nose and very chalky/meaty. Tried again on 2nd day and evened out but still too heavy for us.

Cherries and earth on the nose. Garnet color. Medium bodied, some acidity. Nothing particularly complex or lasting, but revealed more 2nd day.

Pepper spice and red fruit on the nose.
Dry and tannic. More so than I like but some aging may tone it down a bit. All in all decent.

Good nose of spice, smoke, and a bit a (can't think of anything else but) red meat. Jammy fruit and good tannin on the mouth. Can drink it now but will be nice to see how it ages.

Lots of spice and acidity throughout. Nice bottle, but needs to mellow out just a little.

Worth another purchase: Couldn't muster the will to write notes for this, but definitely don't remember loathing this. Rich, structured, and very evident of Super-Tuscan tendencies...that's all I can scrounge up at this point.

Beautiful dark color. On the nose I pick up, black pepper, smoke, black cherry, and a little burnt rubber. Dark jammy fruit on the pallate with pretty big tannins. Full bodied with a silky mouthfeel. Nice bottle.
