Really opened up after slow ox for 4 hours. Improved more after that. Past bottles seemed to open up a bit faster. Rich fruit and tannin. A little less of the mint notes I experienced with previous bottles.

Another great bottle. Drank with a 2012 Etude Cabernet (St Helena?) at a similar price point and this was the unanimous favorite. The extra years of development of the Ehlers certainly helped its cause.

Delicious, with great energy and depth without being too heavy. I agree with many of the earlier notes--this has a lively nose with mint, nutmeg, strawberries. Yum. Great with just a little air time. I am excited to see how this evolves over time.

Dark and dense - purple black. Highly extracted and viscuous. Mint was strongly present on the nose and palate, along with plum, black fruit, and sweet cassis. Long finish.

Decanted 6+ hours. Purple fruits and vanilla on the palate. Smooth tannins (still plenty left, but not over powering) and a long fiinish, closes with a little tartness.

Decanted this one for about 3 hours. The bouquet delivers nutmeg, vanilla, strawberries. Nice legs, long finish, tannins are noticeable and well integrated, even after the long decant was still a little hot but not overly so. A fine bottle of wine, quite enjoyable.

Popped and slow ox'd for about 4 hours. Dark purple color. Cassis and blueberry notes on the nose and palate along with charred oak and vanilla. Chewy tannins but plenty of fruit to complement it. Nice finish. Drank toward the end of the night so palate fatigue was setting in but this wine always delivers for me.

Decanted one hour. Bold Cab, but not a fruit bomb. Nicely balanced range of flavors: dark berry, currant, cocoa, coffee, some menthol with a touch of oak. Good structure with grippy, well integrated tannins and a nice lingering finish. Went well with our rib-eyes. The wine provided just the right amount of acid to help cut through the richness of the meat. Drinking well now.

big bold cab sauvignon purchased from a state store, decanted for 3 hours. fruit forward with good intensity and length, but not quite as polished as I would have liked. a grizzly mish-mash of fruit and chocolate and licorice - needs a bit more restraint.

Wow, this is a big wine. Brought it to a steakhouse and paid corkage fee. Was so worth it. Nose has big dark fruit, and finsih has chocolate/cocoa. Long finish, complex wine, and needs a big meal to hold up to it. Well done, and happy to have three more!

Big California wine. Good jammy fruit but also herbaceous characteristics of the 7% Cab Franc. It has some heat, but well integrated. Cocoa and/or Coffee on the finish. Nice long finish. This wine was the reason I joined Ehlers' club. Quite good I think.

My system (nose mouth finish) /++, supple and soft on the front end a little firm on the back end, black berries, chocolate, barrel, spice. Need a few more years.

Anna and I had this wine with a homemade vodka sauce over brown rice pasta for our 10 year anniversary.I opened this up 2 hours before drinking and decanted before drinking. The wine was dark and heavy. Smelled like a berry patch. It was very good but fell a little short of expectations. A lot of complexity but also still a little bit of bite. I think I should have waited for perhaps our 13th anniversary on this one.

Dark purple, almost black. Decanted for two hours. Somewhat monolithic at this point with smooth cassis and dark fruit flavors. Drinks well now but this has lots of room for improvement.

Old Doug Event (Bado's Cucina): Decanted for an hour, put back in bottle and taken to restaurant. Good stuff. Very dark in color. Nose of dark fruit and flowers. Heavy mouth feel with notes of blackberries and cassis on the palate. Secondary floral notes and flavors of licorice.

Pop and pour at a restaurant. Wish we would have given this more air but it opened up into a wonderful wine. Fragrant aroma with a mouthful of fruit and a great layer of pepper and spice.

Popped and left open for about 2 hours and then decanted before serving. Dark deep purple color. Somewhat tight on the nose at first but gradually opened up to reveal really ripe dark fruit notes and cassis with a very prominant floral/lavendar aroma coming through. Blackberry and cassis on the palate along with some charred oak notes and a touch of vanilla. Firm tannic backbone on this wine but there is plenty of fruit still showing. I am excited to have another bottle as I think this will get better with a couple of years of bottle age on it. Great effort from Ehlers.

Dinner with Bill, Michelle, Christal, Kevin and Carol at The Carlton, Pittsburgh. First of four bottles. Very dark maroon in color, almost black. Smokey sausage and flowers on the nose. Lots of dark fruit on the palate - blackberries, black currant with some leather spice. Sale priced at the state monopoly store at $50 - The Carlton passed on the savings and priced it at $90.

Very, very good classic cabernet. Inky and dark plum color, great deep fruit nose, solid fruit bomb but lasting finish. Opened up in an hour but did not develop any further. This is a good bottle of cabernet but I would expect more out of something at this price range ($95)
