Dark bronze-like color. Fruity aromas of apples, marzipan, liquorice and ripe citrus. Soft and rich. Low in acidity. Has kept well, but is now over the hill.

Judgement of Sydney Blind Tasting: Yellow coloured, with gold highlights starting to appear. Quince, lemon, apple and a little honey showing through on the nose. A modicum of sweetness is cleaned up nicely by a little typical Alsace bitterness. Excellent length and this must be near to its peak. Lovely.

Delicious stuff. Needed about 10 minutes after opening and pouring for the bouquet to begin to emerge, then blossomed and continued to gain for some time. Most of the recent notes of others ring true. This is luxurious but not overdone and has nice balance. I wish it had a bit more grip, but other than that, this was terrific. Everyone liked it.

Rednecks & Rhones at Greg Ellis' house. This was a treat - someone else bringing a ZH that I've only had once before and don't have any of in the cellar! Dark yellow in the glass, this immediately screamed out to me that is was from Rotenberg with a strong red clay/iron earthiness. I think it was the '92 vintage signature that I was picking up on. With time in the glass to open there's some Jebsal coming through in the form of white flowers and the sensation of fruit floating on the palate. While not one of ZH's superstar wines this is very strong considering the vintage. 50+13+12+8+8 = 91

Consumed from a 375mL bottle, this wine was wonderful. The wine looks very inviting in the glass with a deep golden color. The nose was of peaches , apricots and botrytis and the palate and finish followed suit. We drank this to accompany steamed lobsters and the richness of the lobster and wine paired very nicely. If only it wasn't my only bottle!

Coming nicely into its own. Big and sweet, but carrying it with grace, this typifies what ZH comes up with when they pull it off right. Still very lively, it has miles to go before it sleeps.
