Nose: rose petals, herbs, soap Notes: tasted side by side with Arnoux Les Suchots 2007. Unfortunately the Echezeaux 2007 was completely outperformed by the Les Suchots. Although it did show promising aromas when we first opened the wine but I feel it lacked the depth and backbone of a good Echezeaux. The palate was a little confused and the different tastes were not coherent. I've had a similar experience with Arnoux Echezeaux 2000 before, you can feel that the right aroma is there but when you take a sip it doesn't really feel right. This could be related to the parcel that they own? Arnoux makes excellent wines so I do not think its' the winemaking so I am inclined to blame it on the terrior of the parcel. Given such quality I think one should definitely go for the Suchots that the domaine is so proud of to the extent of naming it les grand suchots (perhaps a little self-involved?). Anyhow, quite a disappointment and I would be very cautious drinking Echezeaux from other vintages. One final note, I do feel that this wine is either not so ready or is purely not so balanced, I hope it is just not ready but I'm inclined to believe the latter. Drink: 2025+ Rating: 88

Pale ruby with subtle garnet. Tremendous nose - red fruits, cherries, currant, giving way to earth, mushroom, game. Potent and vital. On the palette, wonderful freshness and energy with a fine balance. Delicate but with substance. Served with duck breast, blood sauce and foie gras. Medium body, long finish. Superb.

Medium garnet with brownish hue. Looks advanced from the color. The nose is tertiary with cherry, cake, ripe. Succulent palate, good volume, you xan see they extracted this. Tannins are velvety though, almost too much. Lovely but not grand for this producer.

Deep red ruby. Opulent nose of red fruit. Full and lush palate. Overall a little forward for a burg with some noticeable oak. That being said, it is a great wine and a screaming good value. Long finish..

Great. It was an exception in a panel with only premier cru burgundy and left the rest in the dust. Elegant, aromas and flavors of coffee and balance. 2007 is a very interesting vintage

Echezeaux – Grand cru standard?: From Les rouges du Bas & Les Cruots. Subtly complex with black cherry, dark berry and mineral flavors. Finishing substantial supple and with broad tannins.

Tasted blind. No structure. Very silky wine with no tannin, faint red fruit compote, no complexity. Disappointing.
