This was really humming - and significantly superior to the Paulands from same producer and year that was poured alongside it. Gorgeous nose. Lots of excellent fruit. Nice balance for such a young Corton. No rush on these...10 more years will likely add complexity.

Highlights from Thierry's pre-tour dinner: A fragrant floral, red berried character on nose, with some dry underbrush and spices. On palate, drier and more savoury than the 2002 Rousseau Cazetiers served with it. Such was the elegance and delicacy, I had the wine as a Côte de Nuits, or perhaps a Volnay, but certainly not a young Corton. Flavours of jelly crystals, iron ore and red cherries. Once I knew the wine was a Corton, I thought it must be an accessible '98 or '99. Having recently drunk a 2006 Faiveley Corton (don't try this), the 2006 Comte Senard is very approachable for a Corton. Helen noted the delicate extraction and what she thought was older oak here as the reasons for the accessibility. Still, ideally, I'd cellar it for another 5+ years.

Round mouthfeel. Some spice. Dark berry fruit. Round. Lots of tannin and acid though. A little on the puckering side to me so must be able to wait. Fruit wasn't super forward. A little tight

This wine showed tighter than most 2006 Grand Crus I've been trying lately. (Even served with char-grilled USDA Prime strips). Solid tannin, strong acid and good cool fruit. This needs more cellar time. I did not decant this before serving, but recommend that approach if you want to try this anytime soon. Better yet, leave it alone for another 5 years and check in then.

Terminal City Club Dinner with Allen Meadows (Vancouver, BC): Nose offers cherry and sweet cranberry fruits with dried papaya and hints of vegetal. Slightly lean on the palate. Healthy amount of acid and tannins coming through on the backend with some red fruit notes. Quite approachable now (like many of the 2006s tonight) but ultimately needs a few years. Very good. 88+

Not quite as good as 2005 side by side, but close. 2005 softer, brighter fruit. But this one is very good for the vintage and ready to go.

Good structure and acidity. Bright cherry with pretty firm tannic structure. Could use some more time. Medium finish
