A remarkable wine with no signs of oxidation in color or taste. Wonderfully viscous and substantial, due to texture not oak flavors. Clean and vital despite its weight, with a lingering finish.

part of a vertical tasting of '99-'03. It is so interesting to see the subtle changes from year to year. There was a major jump in style between '99 and onward, with later years richer and creamier while still staying very vibrant riding the high alcholol. Really could have been drinking a great Burgundy, everything was so balanced. Not much of a nose on this one, and a bit more citrus then the '00, opened up well over the evening and was very satisfying.

Rich and hot with lush and ripe yellow fruit. Definitely showing some nice signs of age. Lots of toasted carmel and toffee notes. The palate persists with awesome and flamboyant acidity unusual to a Chardonnay from Santa Rita. I loved it though. Some nice heat ala the high alcohol content. Though overall this was balanced. I'm a huge fan of this wine.

A touch of golden color, good acidity and nice finish. Got better with a little air. Nice minerality and tropical fruit. Expecting it to be a little richer but drink very nice right now.

opened at the wine house side by side with a Peter Michael. Opinions were split on this wine. Many found it to be not very complex and uninteresting. I and several others enjoyed the fact that had less oak then the PM and enjoyed its nice lemony component. A very good food freindly chard.

15.9% alcohol. santa rita hills. 2,304 bottles produced.
i almost crapped when i saw the alcohol level in this wine. is this a record? no matter, because i didn't notice it.
honeysuckle, citrus, butterscotch, mild orange rind, minimum oak. there is a steely minerality to this wine which is just lovely.
i am more consistently impressed by this producers chards over the pinots, which i frequently find too stemmy.
nevertheless, this chard is recommended.
