Still drinking well. Needed some air to regain fruit. It wasn't off-putting when first opened, but tasted a little flat. It gained weight after 30 minutes or so. The flavor ended up a great balance between earth and fruit. I expect the wine is beginning its downward turn, so drink 'em up if you have 'em!

Decanted for 1 hour, this tasted big, with layers of complexity. Perfumy nose of roses and berries. Tasted of dark berry jam with cinnamon spice. Nice long deep finish, tannins still nicely complementing the tart and jammy berry flavors.

Unfortunately not memorable...age has not added personality and complexity with secondary flavors on nose or palate...nice enough wine with decent size and length and not really showing it's age...positively or negatively.

Sweet, seductive nose of blackberry, mulberry, white pepper, & a touch of honeysuckle. Full & rich, similar taste to the nose plus some tar, very fruit forward, nice length, finishes long & sweet, some fine tannins kicking in. Delicious, distinctively fine California wine. In a very good place right now but should last for some time.

Opened and not decanted. Floral black fruit bacon black olive aromas are joined on the palate by notes of black pepper. Some fine sediment is present. In peak window. Enjoy now.

Still very tight, sulphur on nose that blows off. Nice aroma of dark, cherry, some wood, vanilla, floral. Tastes of dark cherry with a long finish of black pepper. Nice acid balence. Very food freindly wine.

Fist day was great fruit, but tightly wound and a solid wall of tannins. Day 2, after decanting for 1.5 hours: deep, inky purple garnet color. Crushed blackberries and boysenberries on the nose, with a touch of balsam. Deep, rich, and expansive, mouth-coating entry. An amazing wine, with a still-tight core of dense, dark berry fruit, and a solid wall of finely integrated tannins. Lots of structure here; built for the long haul.

Beautifully aged syrah. Aromas of dried figs, tobacco shop, herbs, mint, earth. Flavors a bit muted. Blueberries, spice & meat.

Fall 2011 Ridge Wine Blogger Tasting - Lytton Springs Estate Rhones (Ridge Lytton Estate - Healdsburg, CA): Dark garnet color. Aromatic with dark fruit, asian spice, cigar box, and floral aromas. On the palate, ample, refined, and smooth with black cherry, black plum, spice and vanilla flavors. Medium long finish. My favorite of the day! 88% Syrah/12% Viognier

Syrah was very smooth and refined. Nose was very full and fruity. Needed very little time to breathe.

This wine just wasn't that interesting...kept retrying over several days. I have another bottle - hope it shows better.
