Mature and drinking well right now with wonderful aged depth and complexity. In a great drinking window but seemingly with a good bit of time remaining.

A: Medium to Deep gold N: pear compote, marzipan, dried fig, dried dates, prune, dried orange peel, lemon preserve. Fine Bubbles. C: Dry, medium acid, medium alcohol, pronounced intensity, medium body and long finish BLIC? Outstanding quality. Fully developed. These are the magnum notes. The standard bottle was rather dull and boring. This is really at its most stunning peak. Get some more blanc de blanc in magnum and age it.

Platnick turns 50, this from magnum and drinking spectacularly. Grand Cru fruit really shines in the large scale fruit driven well balanced bright bubbly. Crowd favorite that evaporated in minutes, no joke. Really good stuff, don't see it improving from here, but no rush to drink up either.

Magnum. Very easy to enjoy, very bright Chardonnay aromas and flavors. moderate depth and nuance, but precise and pleasurable for the near-term, even if not very cellarworthy past 2020ish.

This is a delicious and it seems relatively unknown wine made by a co-operative who do so consistently. This 2002 was and still is wonderful rich full and very dry drinking.

Lovely chalky nose, that doesn't really follow through on the palate. It's a little too earthy for my liking. All in all a good wine though, but not great

Bartolo & Giulio Mascarello: 1952-1971 Barolos of Cantina Mascarello (Bar Boulud, NYC): [A special cuvée created for Rare Wine Co. Served from magnum. The official name of this producer is Coopérative Union des Propriétaires Récoltants Le Mesnil sur Oger.] Poured while we were standing around and chatting, but this was still quite notable. A delicious, balanced, elegant Champagne. Great class and finesse. Would have liked to have spent more time with this.

Pale straw. Good stream of bubble. Quite a creamy nose. Gentle, enveloping mousse, fresh and positive on the attack to the mid-palate and a very smooth creamy finish - no CO2 or prominent acidity on the finish, very quaffable and all too easy to drink quickly. Enough complexity for interest but this is very crowd pleasing (in a good way). ***1/2

A bit disjointed from magnum. Clearly excellent white fruit in the bottle, but not nearly as expansive or as broad as it should be. Give it time and it should open up nicely.

Drinking great. Fully body, white peach and tiny bubble with good lift! Rich and fruit driven. Likely at its peak. Really outperformed. Magnum

Drank from magnum. Wonderful creamy texture, slight brioche. Paired well with oysters, griddle cakes and even french fries.

Classic Le Mesnil w chalk, white flowers and lemon. Not overly complex but faded as the bubbles subsided.

Soft yet full mousse; rich colour, plenty of tight small bubbles but most of all just a delightful taste.

Good Wine with a Boring Super Bowl (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): From magnum. Very appealing crisp flavors, leaner and slightly shorter than I might expect from "Mesnil" but I think this a "value" Mesnil.

Delicious. Rich to taste, deep golden colour - maybe more a food Champagne than an Apperetive.

Rich, heady, BIG nose that you can smell some distance from the glass. Taste is the usual brioche etc but also almonds, marmalade. Beautiful wine.
