balanced but definitely mellowing out. garnet color in the glass and light sediment. fruit is still present. early to mid palette is thin but mid to late palette where the interesting notes are. finish is short. would recommend drinking soon if you're still holding any -- won't improve any more.

The others at the table liked this more than I did. This wine was very Rhone like, deep with minerals and earth and no fruit. The wine has a long finish. Good, but I'm thinking that my bottle was held a bit too long. I'd suggest drinking this up.

4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (Our house): Opaque inky color. Opens with green, herbal qualities along with dark fruit. Turns to coffee, black fruit and loam. Balanced, with dark fruit notes turning to clay and grapefruit. Nice finish. Initially thought Aussie before moving to Chilean cab.

4th Saturday group. Tasted blind. Purple dark in color. Salted caramel with cherry and red fruits. Long finish and excellent mouthfeel. This was my favorite red of the flight and night. Guessed Cal Cab.

After 2 hours, I think it's still holding back. Earthy, leathery, peppery nose. Big silky body with subtle black fruit, but not getting much depth. Finishes with med+ length, fine tannins and good acidity. I'm curious to see if it evolves over the next few days like my last bottle.

Pop & pour at an "End of the World" party. Huge pepper and a touch of funk on the nose, with some great black pepper backing the deep boysenberry fruit. Some earth and a touch of oak and vanilla on the finish. My first taste of Abeja's Syrah...I like!

I think this still needs some time, or at least a nice long decant if drinking now. Day 1 was good but unremarkable; some fruit, silky texture, but a bit disjoint. On day 4--half full sealed with a "vacuvin"--wow, what a difference! Big WA syrah, more of a floral/fruit bouquet (lots of blueberries), and a silky, jammy, elegant body with fine tannins on the finish. Definitely also has some of that Walla Walla dusty note to finish off. Overall, though, it's drinking very nicely with some time to open up (my rating is based on day 4's tasting).

Unleashes a parade of pure Columbia Valley Syrah characteristics and personality. Fiery, dark cerise color marked by plumes of fruit basket coming from the glass. Bold notes of both black and red fruit push through moderate, but deceptive tannins, with a secondary layer of beef broth and earth. This is a solid red that's deep, complex and will improve with age. A refined aftertaste that dwells on notes of peppercorn and dry cigar. Drink now through 2014

This one is a bit closed down right now. Very dry with dusty fruit in the background. Once this ages a bit, it will be quite elegant assuming it goes in the right direction

Excellent, balanced full-bodied Syrah. Great fruit and tannins without jammyness
