Double decanted about 90 minutes before service. Dark red with some browning. There's a lot of sweet red fruit on the palate with good acid and tannin. At least another 3-5 years of good drinking left.

Similar to my 1/3/2020 TN, but more advanced. Almost porty aspect to the nose along with red fruits, earth and a bit of leather. Very sweet dark fruits on the silky palate with some fig, garrigue, minerals, herbs, kirsch and savory notes. Tangy cherry and more minerals on the finish. Seems like everything is well integrated and that this is at peak or just starting to backslide. Recommend drink within the next year. Interestingly, a panel of experienced blind tasters were split on whether this was a really old Napa Cab or an old Tuscan.

The wine was a lovely, rich garnet. A light sediment in the bottle but overall a pure Chateauneuf du Pape and expected as such. The aroma was deep and earthy and the taste was filled with hints of chocolate and blackberry. A lovely wine to enjoy with beef without overpowering the dining experience. Legs were medium and although we prefer a longer finish it was a perfect match with our meal. Would definitely enjoy another bottle in the future.

Friday Night Brown Bagger (J&J's): Double blind. Opens with a nice meaty note along with dark fruit and pepper. Much of the same on the palate. Well-balanced, with plenty of fruit for the structure. Finishes with good length. Becomes more red-fruited as it sits in the glass but retains that terrific peppery spice element. Guessed Rhone syrah. I was surprised to see the '07 vintage as this showed none of the overly ripe raisiny elements I have found in other wines from the vintage. 92+ pts. (J&J)

Surprisingly high pitched nose of red berries plus iron minerality. Medium weight. Tannins are almost fully resolved, but some nice acidity still lends decent structure. Pleasantly surprised. Still, this is soft enough that I would sooner pair it with a pork chop or duck than with beef or lamb.

Deep garnet and color with slight break in edge. Nose of stewed strawberries, crushed dark berries, with hints of a autumnal spices and minerals. Lovely tastes of crushed dark berries, autumnal spices , with hints of tobacco in Carmel. On the fruity side at this point but drinking nicely. Improved after being opened multiple days. Drink over the next 3 to 5 years.

Double decanted two hours before service. Still very dark. The air let the black fruits really come out and moderated the tannins. The fruit finished just a touch "stewed", but no one else noticed that. Overall, an excellent wine with many years ahead of it.

Really thought this was drinking well. Had slight raisin effect that some others have noted, not sure if this is the wine being slightly past peak or maybe it was just slightly stewed from years of imperfect storage.

- Garnet color - What a surprise; if this had been a blind-tasting I would have guessed '09 Amarone. Delightful, full-bodied but silky wine from the beginning only getting better through the night. Tastes of brandied-cherries with slight wood/burn aftertaste. Perfect to open now or maybe +2 years. Cheers.
Spice box aroma, soft and integrated tannins on a medium body, this is definitely at is peak, as it is starting to show a raisin note similar to that of port, drink now and enjoy it.

Really coming into its own now. Unctuous, complex, spicy, mouth filling. Red fruit with sweet notes. I had a bottle that was slightly oxidised last week but this bottle was beautiful. This may herald a decline so probably at its peak now.

Extremely smooth, well worn tannins, earthy and reddish. Notions of leather, spice, smoke and garrigue too. Disappointingly, lacking in the nose and slightly hot -- the downside. Medium length finish. Feels slight for a Chateauneuf, though unquestionably light and zippy. Which accounts for something.

Two and a half hour decant. The colour is medium-light ruby. Getting sweet cherry pie with some ripe raspberries and black peppers on the nose. On the palate, I am getting some dark gamey cherry cola, earthy leather with a hint of black fruits. Agree that this is bit hot due to alcohol content. I would say that this is evolving nicely since trying it last about 15 months or so ago.

Popped and poured. Dark ruby in color, but a somewhat muted nose. Not as powerful as I expected based on the age and reputation of the vintage, but I suspect that the wine is closed down. On the nose, a bit of nail polish, meaning high alcohol. Sweet fruit, almost fruit pastel. Very cherry cola, and again, sweet raspberry. Very primary in the nose.
Interestingly, this tasted quite New World - one might even be forgiven for thinking it's a cool-climate Australian shiraz.
Palette is medium acid, high in glycerin, 14.5 percent alcohol. Seems higher in alcohol, could be even a percent higher, or, maybe not enough oak to mask.
From looking at reviews, this seems to score a solid 90 points everywhere, but I'm not so sure. I'll give it 90 based on how it fared after some time in air, which took off a little of the "heat" - BUT, I am thinking it's between this and 89 points.
Still, very enjoyable for the price.

Enjoyed with a group after a mix of different wines and this held its own nicely. Drank after meal and after decanting for about 30 min. Noticeably milder than the Cali's we had earlier (as expected) and already soft on the finish. Thumbs up from the four of us who shared it.

Drank with Ann at The Orchard in Kennett Square. Popped and poured. Initially pretty tight with some meat, blood and game aromatics. On the pallet those notes followed through with some ripe red fruits. Surprisingly somewhat soft and not as tannic as I expected. As the wine opened the bloody notes faded some and the wine picked up some spice, black pepper and maybe some black tea. This shows the ripeness of the vintage but it is not overthe top or raisiny at all. It paired very nicely with the filet's we had with it. Ann enjoyed this as much as I did and at 27 bucks it was a good deal. I should have bought more than two for drinking over then next couple of years.

Decanted for two hours. Signature CDP nose, but not overpowering. Light fruit, slightly dusty and vegetal. Tannins started out softer than I expected on the palate and tongue, then firmed up nicely. Drank beautifully, and matched well with our meal of savory flavors. Though I would categorize this as "elegant", it had enough structure that it didn't fade over the 6 hours I drank it. I think this is a real bargain at $27, and I'm glad I have five more. Drinking very nicely right now and probably has a few years to grow, but I don't think waiting very long past 2018 would be beneficial.

Decanted 90 minutes but needed about 3 hours as it was tight and dominated by alcohol at the 90-minute mark when we started our meal. I noticed most glasses (including mine) were still close to full as we were finishing our dinners. After adjourning to the family room after dinner, all of a sudden the decanter was in high demand as the wine opened up. At that point, the heat was gone and this was delicious, though I'm not sure I would have recognized CdP if tasted blind because this was ripe (more red than black), not earthy, and not at all peppery. The wine was musky and complex and I'm looking forward to the next bottle though I will wait a few years at least in hopes that the ripeness will give way to some nice secondary flavors.

50+5+13+14+8 =90. Transparent fiery orange. Earthy nose of Rhone barnyard, plum, chocolate and walnut. This wine is serious. It is deep, dry, rich and complex. Well balanced tannins and acidity. Taste of spice, dark fruit and stone with a hint of charred wood and caramel. I have 3 more bottles and I cannot wait to see how a little time brings more out.

Looking for a bottle after New Year's and pulled this one that I had received a couple of weeks before from WTSO. Opened and let sit for 2 hours before pouring. Nice nose of dark fruit, leather. Amazing QPR for $25. A rich CdP that delivers both complexity and lots of gorgeous fruit. It is great that terrific 07 Rhones like this are still around and still cheap. What a difference from the jacked up prices of 05 (often overrated) Bordeaux.

This is one of six 2007 CDP wines I bought as futures based upon positive press reviews of the 2007 Rhone vintage as whole. Opened for one hour before serving with Thanksgiving Dinner. No DeCant. Chilled to 50 degrees. I like my reds wine cellar temp--or even a bit cooler to start. Pleasant nose of dark rich berries, tinge of earth and v subtle smoke. Very pleasant initial taste with ripe berries and light slate. Enjoyed through pleasant mid palate and a nice lingering after taste through the finish. Paid about 33/bottle and would recommend. I have 5 more. I found the wine ready to drink and it opened up and became a little fuller with time so I would say laying down for the next year or two might add some complexity but enjoyable now. It was great with traditional Turkey Dinner. Gobble Gobble.

Tested at 70 deg F on well-aired bottle, 2 to 3 hrs. Interesting nose of game and barnyard with light cola and spice (pepper). In the mouth lovely balance, smooth and centered, with gamey ripe slightly spicy not sweet dark fruit with notes of leather and wood. Finish fades of similar elements plus a bit of metal and pepper spice. Dry. Body medium, acid medium, tannin medium. 80% grenache, 15% syrah, 5% mourvedre.

We decanted this for 2 hours before drinking. On the nose it was lovely and complex, with cherry, smoke and hints of vanilla. Medium-bodied nature of this wine means the flavours don't jump out in your mouth. We tasted strawberries among the many flavours. Concensus is that this wine needs a few more years in the bottle to reach its peak. We won't likely be drinking our second bottle for another 2 years.

Decanted for 1 hour drank over 4 hours: Leather and earth on the nose. Drinking very well with spice, barnyard and meat, soft tannins. Medium finish.

Enjoyed with a group after a mix of different wines and this held its own nicely. Drank after meal and after decanting for about 30 min. Noticeably milder than the Cali's we had earlier (as expected) and already soft on the finish. Thumbs up from the four of us who shared it.

This one we just popped and poured. I have been noticing that the lesser chateau 07's are drinking great right now. When I tried this after opening, just poured. Blackberry, leather, au jus, herbs. Strong finish, full bodied, dark purple. Great QPR.

Decanted for 2 hours. Classic CdP at a killer price. Consistent with earlier note. The 2007 vintage seems to offer some great value in the lesser chateau's.

I was very disappointed, but maybe needed some time to decant. Right off the bat, nose was very alcohol-intense. It mellowed out, and I got some great red fruit. I thought the taste was too intense and bombastic.

Great taste of sour cherry, earth, herbs. Full bodied, strong finish, good strucutre. All around great wine especially at this $25. Second night was just as good.
