Extremely bright yellow colour. Nose: coconut, green pear, Lilly of the Valley, yuzu, freshly shaved oak chips. Taste: dry, medium body, aggressively oaked. Fruit: starfruits, white grapefruit, canned pear. Strange tin undertone. Decent acidity to cut through the creamy oak. Slight olive oil texture. Finishes all oak no fruit. Overall, just too much woodiness here for my taste.

It's been six months since I last enjoyed the MacRostie Chardonnay. It has really come together since I first tried last October. Oak and fruit seem to have integrated well; wine is drinking wonderfully right now. Complex flavors of butterscotch and tropical fruits. Nice finish. Enjoyed with smoked chicken, great combo.

I am in total agreement with previous reviewer - after a short time in the glass the butterscotch flavor comes through, followed by pineapples, lime and a hint of melon - a nice finish - went well as an aperitif and as a compliment to our first course of sauteed quails over leeks.

Drinking really well right now; the oakiness is subsiding and the butterscotch and fruit are starting to predominate. Don't drink too cold, let it warm to just below room temp and you'll be rewarded!

This wine is becoming more enjoyable as the oak is starting to subside and the vanilla and butterscotch are starting to show. Still plenty of crisp apple, pineapple and citrus fruit. Nicely balanced. Paired well with roasted Chicken, tossed salad, and corn on the cob.

Medium straw color with a medium to full body. Very oaky initially, but the oakiness seems to mellow and turn to vanilla as the wine gets some air in the glass, Overall excellent acidity and balance. There's a solid core of lime, pineapple, and apple fruit and some buttery undertones as the wine evolves. Exhibits a long, solid finish. A very nice Chard if you like the big, oaky style,

Typical big, oaky, buttery California style Chardonnay. You either like it or you don't! Personally a style I like, so I found this very enjoyable. Full bodied with a nice medium gold color. Currently showing a bit too much oak for my tastes, I think with some bottle age the oak will begin to gravitate more to the vanilla and creme brûlée flavors. There's lots of pineapple, pear and creme flavors that culminate with a strong finish. This wine is very good now, I expect it will improve tremendously with some age.
After vacuum storing over night and trying again on day two, the oak had settled and dissipated. Oak became more vanilla and pineapple turned to tropical fruit. Still very good.

A very good chardonnay -- particularly at the $20 price point. A tad more butter and vanilla than I expected from the Sonoma Coast. Would definitely seek out again.

Aroma: a little petrol Palate: full, round, creamy, tropical fruits, a little sweet oak. My experience with MacRostie has been up and down, but it is definitely up again. I will definitely get this again.

Oaky and buttery with a little apple and tropical flavors. There is some acidity here, but the caramelized apple and butter on the finish is overwhelming. Not a terrible wine, but drinkable. If you are a fan of the oaky style you will like this, but not for me.

Golden green color. Toasty lemon cream aroma with a heavy oak overlay. Full entry of toasty lemon that is creamy & full with the oak elements kicking in on the finish that is slightly hot & chalky. OK in a big chardonnay way.

November-02-10 - LCBO "Sonoma Superstars" Taste and Buy Event - October 21, 2010. Sorry, no or limited tasting notes. Just a score. Too many wines, too little time for notes. Here's the note, if any:

Sunday Group: Mini-Horizontals- Mondavi, Dominus & Chappellet (Mike's): Double blind. Opens with a nice toasty quality, with apple and pear notes underneath. Bright acidity with flavors of apple, lemony citrus and toast. Excellent. Guesse Meursault.
