Tried along side with what I felt were several lower octane Zins, paired with stuffed Manicotti and tomato sauce. Decanted as the cork broke. This was my only bottle of this vintage and opened it based on a positive experience with an '04 at Thanksgiving. This wine was delicious and well received by our guests. Decent nose, mellow, spicy Zin flavor that matched nicely with the pasta.

Did not decant and should have. Initially tight and thin. But continued to change over the next three hours. At the end, sweetness and the spicy zing, but for the first couple of hours, tasted thin and with a hint of mineral and mud on the finish that was unusual.
Excellent, but give it maybe 1-2 hours decanting and good aeration to let it open up and give off its minerality and extra complexity. A little hotter than I remember, but good zingy spicy dark red and blue fruits. I'm not a huge Zin lover at the moment, but this is very good.
Consistently good, as expected. Dark fruit/herb nose. Toasted raspberry, tobacco, cocoa, & a mineralistic backbone. Medium bodied, good balance & solid acidity. Always love Peter's wines.

Zinfandel tasting (non-blind): Strong cocoa on nose accompanied by dark fruit. Spicy. Opened up nicely. Strong tannins and long finish. Could use some more time. Favorite of the 2004-2007 vertical. Excellent QPR. 88-89

Nose of dark herbaceous berry. Very smooth mouthfeel, slight sour cherry with hints of vanilla spice. Good acidity & minerality. Better than the prior two vintages I've had.

Dark garnet red. Strawberry, raspberry sorbet, and a whiff of pepper on the nose. Medium bodied, raspberries, cherries, tobacco, dark chocolate, a tiny bit of jalepenos, fine rounded tannins, and a medium to long finish. Smooth and tasty. It's in a good place right now.

Good nose with raspberries and blackberries and a bit of spice. The palate is more oaky/structured than the 2004 vintage. A good enough wine, but I did not like it as well as the 2004.

A good enough Zin. Drank as a table wine over a few days. Smell of Raspberry toast. Drinks well enough, a little more heat than I remember from last bottle.

Wonderful Zin. Had with grilled turkey breast. Not too sweet. Nice balance that paired well with our meal. And still doing well.

Getting to be that old Zin flavor. A bit of fruit still, with that nice stewed finish, but the barrel is showing off.

I think the cellar had an issue. Not as good as expected, with some off notes. Not vinegar, but not great.

Green pepper on the nose, lots of spicy fruit on the palate. Wonderful with smoked Western-style ribs and sweet potato fries.

Raspberry, dark plum on the nose. More tannic than the 2004. A little tight, needs to open up some.

tight to start with, but opens up with a hour of decanting. Huge minerality, and the good red fruit start to come out with aeration.
An amazingly friendly Zin, with great acid balance and minerality on the medium finish. Good red and effervescent fruit.

A good value for the money. Oak is dominant. Not as much fruit as the other 2 I've tried in vertical pack. Still have the "07" to try. Nice finish.
