Very attractive. Dusty black cherries and strawberry with signs of development in the form of raisin and prune. Nicely integrated oak with delicate notes of worn leather and chocolate.
Lovely balance. Tannins are firm, just begging for a salty protein. Alcohol kisses the back of the palate.
Stunning wine with lovely harmony. Black cherry, garrigue, dust, leather and spice. Minty and herbal. Hard to put this wine down.
Excellent length. Drink now.

It’s good but a little “hot”, even after a 2 hour decant. 15% alcohol and the fruit doesn’t quite stand up to it. This is my last one - the prior one was almost 3 years ago. I didn’t do a note then but I don’t remember the heat - I think it was better then. RP96 in 2009 but this is 2021. Drink up for sure. And decant - it has tons of sediment.

1/2. Garnet color with bricking edges. Smells like blue and black fruits, along with cherry and kirsch, graphite and crushed rocks, black tea, and some barrel spice. Medium body, high acid, long finish, noticeable 15% alcohol, robust and bombastic on the palate, with flavors of kirsch, some darker fruits, orange peel, and notable spiciness. A bit overdone for my general preference, but worked well enough with our rib roast tonight. A bit of a punch to the mouth standalone post meal though.

Fantastic CdP--this is why I'm a wine enthusiast! Big nose w/ lots of cherry/kirsch notes that follows through on the palate with fresh dark cherry fruit, anise, cloves, tar, and minerality. This is drinking great right now, but should be good for at least a few more years.

2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tasting at Winetasters of Toronto Club (North York Memorial Hall): 2007 Patrick Lesec Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Bargeton showed the regional typicity of layered ripe fruits and complex herbs. The aromas were complex and intrigueing, with ripe blackberries, blueberries and dark cherries, followed by lavender, Provencal herbs and a touch of orange zest. On the palate, it was medium-bodied, with medium-high acidity and medium level of mature satisfying melting tannin. The rather long finish was filled with ripe dark fruits and anise spices. The personal rank was the third out of the eight wines, and the table rank was the second. The blend consisted of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre and 5% Syrah, with full destemming before fermentation. Some vines were over 100 years old from the revered La Crau lieu dit filled with Galets roulés. 550 cases were produced annually.

This CdP now appears to be at it's peak. Port-like in intensity, with lead pencil, heavy cassis, iodine, concentrated cherry and currant flavors. Very intense flavors and certainly decant-worthy.

Not a good showing. Seemed just off a bit, short of ripe picking? Edit: this clearly was an off bottle compared to others. Consistent 92 other than this entry over 5 bottles

Oof. This isn't what I expected. Nose of plum and some VA. In the mouth a burnt taste and very extracted. I'm not seeing this in the other TNs, so I'm wondering what's going on. It a stewed plum taste and even is a little port-like. Not at all what I would expect in a CdP. It isn't over the hill though and is in its drinking window. Medium finish.

Not so great. Maybe a decant would have helped, but didn't get much better in the glass over 20 minutes or so. Some dark fruit flavors and a hint of spice, but none of the light earthiness in most CDPs.

Somewhat disappointing. After one hour of decanting, we may have imagined some sandalwood, honey and brine on the nose. Seems we have waited too long as the fruit has left the party.

From mostly old vine Grenache, the wine is supple, lush, round and concentrated with sweet kirsch, thyme, cherries, pepper and garrigue. This is a very textural wine that is really showing well today.

Superb inky monster CdP. Lead pencil, heavy cassis, iodine, concentrated cherry and currant flavors. Intense flavors out of the bottle, with a few hours to breathe certainly warranted. This will be handily drinkable into the next decade or longer.

Camphor and strawberry on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, blackberry, black pepper, and a note of olive tapenade, with no noticeable tannins and moderate acidity on the medium finish. This was intensely flavored and tasty, but not as interesting and complex as I was hoping. This offered average value for the money at about $50.

Tasted this "price blind" (didn't check how much I paid before tasting). Every aspect of the wine told me "expensive." Dark garnet, almost opaque. Raspberries, oak, cassis on the nose. Intense attack of cherry syrup, red currant and some fig, anise, dried herbs and tapenade, which swells on the midpalate into a minute plus finish. After several hours of air, unexpected flavors of cedar and tobacco surfaced. Nice waxy glycerin level. Tannins perfectly balanced at this point, barely drying. 1 of 3 bottles in the cellar and thinking I will enjoy them all soon, as I am not sure there will be a payoff to waiting, particularly with some recent disappointments with grenache-based wines that have had some time in cellar.

Medium-red with some bricking. Lovely nose with notes of flowers, currants, and spices. Even better on the palate, with notes of violets, game, cherries, and herbs. Lush and quite enjoyable.

A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark garnet in color. A full bodied CDP, with blackberry, cassis, licorice and a long spicy finish, very good, still a baby. Decant for a few hours.

2011 Duck Dinner (Peter Pratt's Inn): Very tight initially it took a good amount of time to flesh out, but it was very nice once it got its act together. Nose of fresh paved roadway, black licorice, spices and prunes, the palate pretty much mirrors the nose. I was looking for a bit more depth from this wine to make it truly great, but it is very, very good.

Decanting for about 2 1/2 hours now. Nose just beginning to open up. Earthiness and spice is loaded on the nose. Cherry plus some dark fruit buried back there. Taste: Fruit and spice throughout. A touch hot and that's knocking the score down a little bit. Very heavy on cloves, pepper, earthiness but tons of fruit. Finish lasts and lasts. This is a big wine. It's just beginning to open up. We aren't going to serve it for another 2+ hours. Going to be fun to see where it goes. 92+ right now.
I let it decant for 6 hours and it still wasn't open. The amount of spice was incredible. Way to young to pop. 94 points.

Bright ruby color. Pretty nose of sweet red raspberry jam with a touch of vanilla & caramel. Very pretty nose. Medium entry of restrained yet concentrated raspberry fruit that is wrapped in an alcoholic bite that destroys the tacky, chalky finish. The fruit & nose are so lovely it's a shame the finish & mid-palate are such a letdown.
