I realize that this wine is two years post recommended consumption date, but I was looking for something to open while I organized my cellar a bit and added some bottles from a trip to Santa Barbara. I did not decant but the wine lingered in my glass at least an hour. Pours a beautiful ruby, no golden color at edges. Medium to light legs. An odd most floral nose and the taste...really just a bomb of tannins that, to me, hid any fruit trying to show itself. I stored with wine vac. Rather than dumping this I think I will decant for several hours later this week.

Barnyard nose—and I think I’ve given this one enough air for sulfur to blow off. On the tongue, very mellow fruit—I do get cassis, plum, maybe blueberry. Herbal notes—anise and a suggestion of mint. Olive on the back of the palate. Nice supporting acid and BIG TIME Spring Mountain tannin. This is one seriously complex wine. I really like it. It is big and mouth-filling. However, I can see how it can be difficult for some. I do not think there is sufficient fruit to outlast the tannin if one wanted to give this wine more sideways storage.

Very, very tight and hot upon open. Harsh, tanniny, difficult to drink. Day Two was smooth, pleasant and quite enjoyable. Maddeningly inconsistent product.

Tannins hiding the fruit upon POP. Got better as the evening went on with nice chocolate tones developing but fruit still not fully integrated. Next day maybe a little better but overall not a good QPR. You can find better for the $$.

Earthy and some cassis and black cherry on the finish. Moderate tannins, nice supple body and solid finish. Will buy again - very good Spring Mtn fruit

Powerful on the nose, a lot of dark fruits leaping out of the glass. Started with a lot of tannins and a somewhat bitter finish. After just a little bit of air, things smoothed out and that bitterness disappeared. Left with a very enjoyable wine, but one I might wait another year or two on.

Love Spring Mountain fruit. One of my favorite producers. Deep nose of plums and cassis. Flavors of plums, cassis, anise, earth, and some dark cherry on the finish. Moderate tannins and a beautiful acidity. Will buy again to age for a couple years.

Blind home wine tasting with MOT Scoring sheet (At Home in the Cave): Light and enjoyable cassis on the nose. Full bodied with moderately heavy tannins. A touch (very small) of heat in the finish which indicates to me that it should maybe lie for a little. Moderate finish. (S=91) On retasting I adjusted the score down to 91 - nice wine but it doesn't match the first label.

Strong nose and very fruity. Breathe it for 2 hours and it will give a even more intense aroma of dark berry and smoky flavor. It will be a 90 points wine in a few years

restrained and subdue, but seeming to have the stuff to be a great more classic styled napa cab. even though second wine, hold for couple years to let this one shine.

Better after we tried it the 2nd day. First day a flat floppy mess. Second day, full lush and nice meshing of the tannins.
