At first, the cork crumbled to dust and there was no way pulling it out without making a mess. And then, the anxiety of whether the wine had been spoiled.... ah, no! This has now reached near perfection but it is a rose that will wither within a heartbeat. I guess it is that feeling of urgency that perhaps contributed to making this that precious? There is still some acidity at the edges , some ripe fruits, pleasant and round bitterness, as well as growing tertiary aromas but that have not yet taken over the wine’s opulence. Wish I had more....

It was with some anxiety this was opened - how would it be? It was brilliant, creamy, dense, bees wax, minerals with and underlying sweet, almost playful sourthern fruit. Brilliant result in this warm vintage. Interesting to taste vis-a-vis the 2014.

Deep gold colour, intense nose that starts quite unbalanced with the alcohol standing out but after 10 minutes it explodes to a nut, ripe yellow fruit, beeswax. Intense oily palate, great weight, balanced and powerfull. Perfectly mature.

Rather dark golden color. Aromas of apricot, marzipan etc, but most of all oxidation. Fullbodied and concentrated, with low acidity. Still a joy to drink, and will probably hold for many years, but is on the decline.

med gold in color.......but still had great elements of its terroir remaining......hot gravel and rocks with incredible smoothness and complexity........only slightly oxidized but still worth tasting.........

This is the perfect wine. The perfect wine if you need some apple vinegar for a recipe. Came out mellow gold, stingy on the nose. Caramel, buttered apples, and a giant dose of dissapointment.
Take a bottle of great white wine, open it for 3 days, then pour 25% sherry, and you've got this.
I try to recreate the 97 beaucastel Blanc (non vv) I had years ago. It burned into my mind, and became a benchmark for excstasy. Others much more in tune with wine agreed- Doubt that will happen again with this specific wine. I'll keep looking. It wasn't here.

Still going strong. Dark golden yellow color. Vanilla, yellow fruits and hazelnut in the nose, as well as some oxidized notes typical for white Rhone. On the palate creamy, rich fruits (unripe pear) and nuts. Long lingering.

First taste was ok, then it became oxidized in a nanosecond. These wines piss me off. I only think they are good young. Almost all of these that I have had with age have gone over the hill. I ain't spending this kind of money for this kind of disappointment anymore.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape semi-blind tasting and dinner (Steven's House): Dark golden yellow colour. Yellow fruits and hazelnut in the nose. On the palate creamy, rich fruits and nuts. Long lingering. So much better than a oxidized (and orange colored) bottle last year. Drink now.

Dark golden color. This ended up being disappointing given the high expectations of this producer. Mild nose, a little honeysuckle. Palate initially quite closed, but opened with with a fleshy waxy mouthfeel, with touch of pear and apricot. Finish has a lovely refreshing mineral quality but was otherwise a little flat. Lacks any serious depth or complexity. No obvious bottle flaws.

this was a huge bouquet of floweral notes, citrus, tropical fruits......a big hit before a 07 CdP tasting...the color is so wonderful in a wine, on the palate it is good as the nose with a clean finish - my last bottle

Wow, Richard Jenning's notes are spot-on...just my score is different. Maybe this just isn't my thing or maybe it needs more time, but it seemed a little tight and unexciting. I should mention that with some quince jelly, this wine jumped to 91 pts.

Amazing nose. The thought is that you don't touch 'em until they are ten years old. Textured, this is really beautiful stuff. Just a little bit tense but it still goes down really smooth.

Beautiful wine, constantly evolving. Core of vanilla, steel, and honey. Unctuous with lots of body. Flavors and aromas of briny green olives, peppermint, raw pork, tobacco, fennel, coriander, creme brulee, and tropical fruit.

Another CHL Wine Night!: Definitely showing Rhone blanc notes - expressive on the nose but rather lacking on the palate. Likely past its prime.

honeysuckle and gravel...just what you'd expect for a Southern Rhone

JULIA CHILD BYO CdP+ French Bistro Dinner Party (Icon Brickell, 465 Brickell Avenue, #3303, Miami, FL 33131): Roberta & David's Wine. David said he should have given it a longer decant. I don't think so. Beautiful amber gold, great flavor, made my baby 07 pale(in color and flavor) by comparison. Also good minerality.
