Sad that this case has now come to an end, as this was a delicious and extremely good-value wine. This bottle oddly fresher than others have been lately, though still pretty smoky and graphitey, with plenty of undergrowth and a hint of leather too - but lacking the gameyness of other bottles. Persistent on the finish, which was full of concentrated cassis fruit.

A charming wine again, full of dark fruit and savour, yet easy to drink, like settling into a comfortable chair. Such great value and such a privilege to have had these on hand.

Still really good, although seemingly these are on the downslope now. A fair bit of Brett, somewhere on the cusp of being interesting and actually offputting. Bitter black cherry, mineral, yeast extract, cool and poised despite the depth of flavour. Insanely good value.

Complex and enticing, like black cherries macerated in Tom Ford Oud Wood. Ashy, smoky, slightly leathery. Sweeter fruit showed itself with time in glass, along with something slightly creamy. Good acidity, slightly drying tannins, slightly short on the finish - but darn good for £15. Three more, probably to drink in the next couple of years ideally as after a few hours the wine did show some tiredness.

Such a shame this was my only bottle, as it's rare to catch a wine at such a perfect level of maturity. 40% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Cinsault and 10% each of Carignan, Mourvèdre and Counoise, but less spicy and jammy than eg a 2007 CNDP. A delightful ease to the wine, but retaining sufficient structure, and perfectly poised between forest fruits and leathery old age. I can't stop drinking it!

Bought this aged bottle at the winery this year. Very balanced. Delicate but very present acidity well integrated with round tanins. Medium plus length. Drink now.

My 10/23/10 notes still ring true for another magnum just consumed. It's even more balanced now, but still very fresh: Drank from a magnum. Juicy, vibrant and mouth-watering. Fruit-forward, but not out of balance as I remembered from a 750ml back in June. Good minerality with a touch of herbs

This is a great CdR. Rich nose and palate. Coming along quite well. Kirsch, cherries, some spices. Drinking very well right now. Drank over 3 days, best on day 1 & 2.

really nice. fruity, bright, complex, and still light. Earlier bottles had some dark and sharp flavors I did not like so much, but they are gone now. I think these are ready to enjoy.

A bold CdR. Heavy notes of kirsch and jus de viande came out on the first night. After vacuum sealing and waiting 24 hours, the kirsch notes changed to black cherry. There is still a heavy tannic backdrop to this one, so you can sit on it for at least another year.

Dense and burly. On the first night somewhat disjoined with some heat, but smooths out on the second and third night. Good dense CDR, with tar+ dark fruit character and some leather and minerals on the very peppery finish. Low acidity, good wine and fairly priced at ~$18 but not a real value. This will definitely benefit from some aging time. Right now 88-89-, but might turn out better in time.

Refreshing Summer Wines (Our House, CA): Dark color. Deep plum, berry, black fruit, charcoal nose with hints of provencal herbs. Lots of dark fruit on the palate. Nice finish. Quite a straightforward wine that drinks quite well now but will certainly benefit from years in the cellar to soften the fruit a little bit. Great potential and good QPR.

Rich blueberry, spiciness, with just a touch of oak. I'm still not convinced about this "great" 2007 vintage. Like other southern Rhones from this year, I found the Baron Louis to be a bit TOO fruit-forward. Perhaps a year or two in the cellar will cut that down, in which case this would blossom into a very, very nice CdR indeed.

Magnum. Medium color, medium weight. More of a complex mix of black and red fruit, spice, and florality than one expects from a wine at this level. Best of all, not overly extracted or alcoholic. I completely agree with the previous taster who called this a great bargain. It is one of the rare '07s that I will repurchase.

Omg this will make you a rhone Francophile if not. Great blends of Grenache, syrah, cinsault, carignan, and mourvedre, counoise. Off the charts nose of strawberry, earth, mushroom. Red fruit, blackberry, plum in mouth.

Aerated in glass 30 minutes on night 1, finished 2 days later. Night 1: dark and closed but opening up over time with meaty aromas and subtle black cherries. Promising. Night 3: More open and strangely fruity, softer with a prominent raspberry jam note. I suspect that night 2 was the sweet spot and I missed it.

By mistake, I ordered 18 bottles of this one (instead of 6). The best mistake I made recently. Opened the first one. Was amazed by the density and smell of this wine. Sure, 2007 was exceptional in the Rhone valley. But this is very dense, smells of plum, dark fruits, long persistence. Tannins are already well integrated, not bitter. It will be a great experience to see this one evolve over the next couple of years! Thanks god I have still 17 bottles left!

Popped and poured. Clean, mouth filling layers of red and black fruit, pomegranate, a hint of walnut, and a bit of wood spice. Tannin is soft, enough structure to give a bit of satisfying grip. Medium body, well balanced, nicely restrained. Drinks well right out of the bottle and improves in the glass. 2nd day, nose and palate are more integrated, more dark fruit, more substance, subtle notes of plum skin and beef blood emerging along with notions of pepper spice. Tasty for such a young wine and seems like it will improve a bit if you can keep your hands off of it.

Green and raw. Metallic aftertaste. Closed. Medium-light body. Decanted for 1-2 hrs, but didn't develop at all. This will probably improve a bit with time, but i doubt it's worth the effort.

Dark fruit such as cherry, blueberry etc. on the nose with some slight floral and animal notes. With time more herbaceous aromas emerged. Started out a bit closed. Medium-bodied with balanced mid-level acidity and some tannin. Slight liquorice, minerality and a nice pine-like nuance. Medium lenght. Balanced and quite a straightforward wine that drinks already quite well but needs some time to open up. Decanted roughly 1,5 hours.

Bought a bottle to see if I wanted to buy a larger quantity. The answer is yes. This is still quite young and took a while to open up. When it did it displayed a nice spicy note with deep dark fruit. The nose was almost muted at first then opened to a wonderful aroma consistent with most S Rhones. I am looking forward to trying more of this in a year.
