The time has come to drink up. John has provided the key ingredients for the 12th year. Beautiful garnet with browning rim. Cassis and dark cherry transitions to earthy berry and a well balanced acid with a chocolate finish.

Second bottle of his wine 12 months apart. Dense dark colour. Boysenberry, blackberry, lightundertones of dust and dirt. Very smooth and fruity. Almost full bodied and very enjoyable. long finish, tannin is evident at the end but blends well with the fruit.

Nice dak fruit nose and slightly sweet mouth, blackberry maybe a bit of cherry. Finish is long, but a bit bitter. Full in mouth, although not extremely complex, but warm and full-flavored. Overall, a good bottle.

Very nice purple color with a wide garnet rim. Nice red fruits and oak on the nose. Very smooth entry with plum, vanilla, minerals. A little spice at the end and a long lingering finish. Very elegant, seamless front to back, atypical for aussie shiraz. Outstanding score due to the deft balance and finesse. Similar in style to Rosemount Balmoral, they should label as Syrah. Also reminds me of Mount Langhi Ghiran or Mitchelton.

This wine is all about QPR. We found it on sale for $10 and it exceeds most anything we've found at that price point. Some oak and red fruit on the nose, while nicely lush in the mouth. No abrasive tannin. Smooth through the finish. Not a ton of dimension, but a very enjoyable glass none the less. Would get more for simple evenings.

well balanced and smooth. very easy drinking shiraz with some spice and earth tones and no over the top fruit. not complex but not boring either. this would be an easy selection for parties. it's a crowd pleaser.

This is my 3rd bottle, and it was significantly more balanced and deep than the previous two (which I drank a year ago). Previous bottles tasted like they were trying to be fruit bombs but the oak and acidity was overpowering the fruit. Now everything has settled down, and the fruits are well-integrated in with leather, spice, dirt. Transformations like this are why I started cellaring wine instead of drinking it on purchase. 2nd night: still going strong. Vanilla, sweet oak and mint, all well integrated. Yum!

This wine definitely overdelivered for me. I was pleasantly surprised to see something other than another Aussie critter wine, but the producer has stayed away from the jammy fruit bomb Shiraz formula and provided something with a bit of restraint, which has allowed some earth and spice notes to shine through. Nicely balanced and harmonized, and as a result more enjoyable to drink than most Aussie Shiraz. I had it with Shepherd's Pie -- comfort food with comfort wine.

Quite a bit better than the other 2 bottles I've had, it seems there is some significant bottle variability; if I could be sure all 12 bottles in a given case were as good as this one I'd get one in a NY Second, but at a 33% hit rate, no thanks. Note that I've seen similar variability with previous vintages of Shingleback, so unless/until I hear to the contrary I'm gonna give this and future vintages a miss.

Ok Oz Shiraz; I keep waiting for this one to be as good as the others in my cellar at a similar price-point (Shotfire, Pillar Box Reserve &c) and it just doesn't cut the mustard. I've had the '05 and now the '06 and it is just weaker than the others, so I'm not gonna get anymore!

Huge nose of blueberry pie. Complicated a lil more w/an earthy, weedy quality. Not just an overblown auzzie, nice wine w/good balance and a lil anise on the finish.

Bright and generous, this is nicely focused to show off its cherry and spice flavors, picking up a savory note as the finish lingers. Drink now through 2013. Score - 90. (Harvey Steiman, www.winespectator.com, Feb. 28, 2009)

Decant for about three+ hours. Really ready to drink.
The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle.

Found this wine at Grocery Outlet. Great price and well worth the $7 I paid for it. Fruity, dry. Dark fruit and slight smoky flavors.

Good Aussie Shraz; not as good as the Shotfire, a little too "hot"; may improve with more time in bottle. Try again next winter.
