  • Clear, deep, gold color
Med+ intense aromas of oak, nut, butter, sherry, and honeysuckle.
Oxidized. Dry, med acidity, low tannin, med alcohol, med+ body, pronounced flavors of oak, vanilla, toast, butter, honeysuckle, and almond. Lacks typical brightness and minerality of a premier cry Puligny Montrachet. Velvet texture, long finish but oxidized.

  • Burgundy Tasting (JBaker's in York): -- popped and poured --
    -- tasted a single pour blind --

Golden yellow color of medium depth. Nose is tangy, with a nice note of freshly-cut grass. Medium-light bodied. This comes across as if it’s relaxing into some age now; sufficient acidity; a touch oaky. Surprised at the reveal to see a wine this young.

  • This bottle exemplified the reasons why wine can be so fascinating and yet so frustrating. The nose was initially delightful, wafting honey and spiced fruits around an encitingly golden glass. However, having decanted this relatively young premier cru I returned about an hour later to find an olfactory desert. Similarly, whilst the palate was a textural treat, there was nowhere near enough zing to leave the wine feeling anything other than slightly flat and characterless. However, over the course of the next two hours the flavours, balance and nose improved steadily until the last glass (I suppose predictably) was utterly delicious; caressing the mouth before delivering a fairly complex array of flavours ably supported by some envigorating acidity. So the whole experience encapsulated the disappointment at finding a wine performing substantially below the level its status would suggest and the thrill, satisfaction and, well, relief of drinking a thoroughbred white burgundy...and everything in between. This is why I drink wine.

  • Not really what you expect from a Puligny. This one is fat and open, with a bit less acidity and minerality. Most people, including me, would have guessed Meursault. But there is wonderful ripe fruit and tons of citrus. Very pleasing drink.
